LSU needs to get a DJ

the Court Jesters.
Yes, started in the early Brown era.
The guy in charge was Charlie Roberts.
Great times.

They had a DJ for the men as well as the band season before this.

Swanny, I thought they started in the Assembly Center. Didn’t know they were in the Cow Palace.

Yes, they were called the Court Jesters.

How does a style of music fit “the style of the game being played today” ??.

YES. I am 100% advocating for more "Piped in music". Playing tiger rag over and over may have been the rage 20 years ago but it's just not anymore. Students and many of the fans want to hear music they listen to and that fits the style of the game today. Every other legitimate basketball program does it and have great environments.
Do you watch the blue bloods play at all???? A huge part of the games are the bands. They are often shown on TV and during the intro into the games.
I mean shite I'm trying to figure out what you mean when you say "every other legitimate basketball program"...Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Louisville, Indiana, etc all have their bands in prominent positions. I mean when it comes to "legitimate basketball programs" LSU doesn't belong in the conversation with those guys, but trying to emulate what they do seems like a good idea in my book.

As a whole the players were better way back when. Guys stayed four years and then went pro.
As for the music; what could be better than listening to Sweet Georgia Brown and watching Pete warm up against Dan Issel and Kentucky????

I don't think the DJ was there last season. That was, IIRC, seasons 2, 3, 4 of the Wade era. Give him credit, he was trying to get some "juice" in the building to attract fans. In the end though, band, DJ, piped in music, none of it really matters. ALL that matters is winning (and having good matchups). They ONLY reason anyone gives a shite right now about WBB is because they are winning at a high level. Put the same HC on the sideline. Stick a DJ in the stands. If they aren't winning, no one is showing up.
To kind of dovetail with another thread, the only "culture" people actually care about is the "culture" of winning. Have all the ancillary discussions you want. If you win, fans will turnout (without a need for entertainment value other than the game). If you lose, they aren't coming.

It’s a freaking basketball ball arena and basketball game not a damn dance club. What is wrong with tiger rag and pregame and the lsu songs? You want to hear that damn rap and hip hop shite go to New Orleans and go watch the pelicans lose another game

Have you ever watched any college sports ever? Pep bands provide unique atmospheres distinct to the arenas and teams. Piped in music is sterile.
Do you want the PMAC, the Hump, the O Dome, and Rupp to all sound the same? That is an awful idea.

I don't watch as much college basketball as I once did (outside of the tournament) but don't most schools have a band at the games?

This might be the dumbest thing I have ever read on here. MUST be a troll.

some hard truth w LSU basketball....men or women.
I agree 100%.
When the teams are good and the PMAC is rockin, it doesn't matter about the music.

The band was around when I started going in the late 70s. So yeah, I'd call it a tradition.
Pep band
Deaf dome meter
Mike the Tiger dropping from the rafters
Students on the sideline
Dale Brown going nuts
It was a loud and crazy dome back in the day.
Thanks for actually answering my question lol. Thats all I wanted to know

I actually wish the band for bball games was bigger. They were bigger in the 80s and 90s and sounded much better and were a big part in getting the crowd into it.
Also, for the past few years it sounds like their is a bad trombone or something that plays off key notes before the T-I-G-E-R-S. It sounds ridiculous.
Unfortunately you can add the Bengal Brass Basketball Band to the list of things that gets neglected in the basketball program. From the band, to promotions, to concessions, to even making sure the stands are pulled out correctly it seems most everything associated with basketball is done half assed and has been for a long time.
