Just 1...which is more than anybody else on the list not named Saban.
There are 110+ D1 coaches that would KILL for only 1 NC

We need a statue of Coach O and make the statue 10 feet taller than Saban's.

I would like to take this message to go ahead and thank Joe Alleva for bringing in this era of LSU Football (and Basketball as well). And scheduling this season's and the upcoming seasons' home&homes with attractive programs and destinations.
Wherever you are... Thanks, Joe!

I don't think Mullen will do much at UF.

I’d have him at 4.
Saban
Jimbo
Kirby
All three have been to an NC game

You have him ahead of Mullen, who has beaten him straight up on more than one occasion?

You're probably right.
He took a 4-7 team to 10-3 the very next year, including beating LSU and winning a NY6 bowl, but yeah, I'm sure he'll flounder at UF.

Are you fricking kidding? Have you seen his wife in action? She could give Tom Herman a run for his money.

so all jimbo can do is recruit? holy frick son, jimbo is a great QB coach and a damn good OC mind. where have you been since 2000? watching hopscotch?

jimbo and malzahn have won HARDWARE (whether it be divisions, conferences or nattys)as OC's and HC's,
some of you are need to pull away your emotions now and be rational. O still has a long hard trek ahead. he needs to win hardware. some here seem to think O is a better hands on offensive coach than jimbo or malzahn?

better hands on defensive coach than smart or saban?
because he is not as good as those guys as a hands on does not mean he cannot turn out to be a good HC.
far too many get carried away with the HC when his assistants are doing the calling and heavy lifting. look back at les at times.

Who else has 6 top ten wins?
Posted on 9/12/19 at 9:59 am to Fat Bastard
Wait you think Mahlzan is running a more successful program right now?

Posted on 9/12/19 at 10:00 am to Laman1978
throwing any hands on coaching out the window could he be top 3 HEAD COACH at the end of the year based on his staff and results like dabo swinney? possible.
very possible.
saban
jimbo
O/malzahn
very possible.

O/malzahn

reading comprehension is NOT your friend lester
if he wins hardware then yes he can pass gus for 3rd and maybe hit 2nd in conference for most successful program at this time in SEC. who knows? see my post above,

Again, I’ll ask you, do you think Gus is running a more successful program than O?

Coach O
I mean not exactly a fair comparison. We know how Miles career here ended, so people naturally factor in the part where he'd grown complacent. He wasn't always that guy. Coaches go through a life cycle.
Compare that to the current coach is in the middle of a good year and has the benefit of the fan's imagination, which trumps everything in the mind of a sports fan.
Only way we can really know is where they stand when their respective careers are over. That said, this is a huge year for this current coach to make a statement.

Gus's program is in worse shape than LSU's.

hardware isn’t meaningful if the only thing keeping your school from firing you is a bad contract extension

you know who else has won SEC titles and won NC's? Les Miles
you know who else ? Chizek
going by that kind of critera there are a whole lot of better coachs then Coach O. But ask yourself who you would rather have as HC of LSU right now in 2019. For me Orgeron is #2 on that list based on best fit and ability.
If you are talking about who you would rather have as a HC right now in 2019 at some other random SEC school other than LSU, then I would put coach O behind Mullen, Saban, Stoops, and Muschamp based on ability to be a good HC.
If we are talking about resumes then Orgeron would be behind Saban, Fischer, Smart and Malzhan and probably quite a few more.
