It's laughable we're trying to downplay Mullen vs Orgeron. He beat Orgeron last year, finished with the same record, and won their NY6 bowl game. Same as Orgeron, minus the head to head loss.

He beat Orgeron in 2017 at Mississippi State. He's got a much longer winning track record in this conference, and he's done so at Mississippi State of all places.

There is no shame whatsoever for Orgeron to be behind Mullen.

As of right now you have to put smart ahead of O.

Smart has won the SEC, got to the playoffs and made it to the NC game.

To be fair - IF we swapped LSU to the East and UGA to the West - LSU may have made it to the SECCG those years AND would have only lost to the same team UGA did (Bama).

Now, UGA has had more offense success against Alabama. This year may be the difference there

I have no issue with anyone ranking Smart above O. But, the SECG appearances and Playoff appearances are kinda happenstance over accomplishment (relative to O)

If he wins a Championship I will be the first to crown him.

At best he’s fourth, but arguably lower. Until he wins an SEC Championship and/or makes it to the NC game he cannot he ranked above other coaches who have.

You calling for MILES to return?

What about Orgeron vs Gus?

If we are using "accomplished" is Gus better? Even though O has beat him twice?

Fisher, smart, mullen and O are 2-5, but I think it's too early to tell what the order is

As of now I would say

Saban
Fisher
Smart
Mullen
O

Updating to add Mullen

Agreed...i don't care who his QB was, his turnaround at FSU was big time.

I also think we're seeing that Winston wasn't a world killer, he was just a good college QB that Fisher made look really good

Smart has to beat O on the field before he earns no 2.
So far Smart has proven to be a great recruiter.

If there was a national draft of coaches tomorrow, these guys would go before Orgeron -

Saban, Smart, Mullen, Fisher.

Then it's possibly/probably Orgeron.

No, but he’s in the perfect situation, and understands his limitations.

He’s thrown his hat into the ring for 2nd place with Mullen, Smart and Jimbo. Mullen and Orgeron don’t have the hardware so it’s hard to put them above the other two, but it can’t certainly be argued at this point.

This is not a body of work and resume questionor a popularity question.

Today with the current activity with two games and the status of the program today

Orgeron is #2.

Can you explain?
