i just think "best" has to have some time component. But Ed still has a ways to go to get in the upper echelon.

won a Ny6 with a pretty weak roster

When you factor in experience you could argue that O did exactly that last year also with LSU

There is no objective measure by which Orgeron is better than 5th, and frankly, there is nothing wrong with that. He's behind Saban, obviously. He's also behind Smart, Jimbo, and Mullen, in whatever order you'd like to put them.

He's probably got plenty of time to correct that.

Saban is a great recruiter, knows how to use his bag men, but he is NOT a great x's and O's guy. Remember "kick six"? Remember how he got beat down by Bama at LSU? Remember how he got it handed to him by Debo early this year?

What reason are there not to rank him in the top three in the SEC?

because in 2017 and 2018 we were 2-5 against teams that were good enough to not finish with 5 losses or more.
because the highlight of 2017 and 2018 was beating a UGA team that finished with 3 losses.
because he has never finished a season with less than 3 losses
O looks to be moving up the list but numerous sec HCs have better resumes.

would certainly put him above Gus at this time who has won the SEC West and played in the NCG.

well nothing supports your stance except your opinion.

This is not a body of work

so you dismiss entire careers and use 2 games of a season to determine which coach is better?
yeah that's super logical.

I mean Gus is a long way from his last SEC Championship.

since 2013 he went 8-5, 7-6 10-4 8-5

thats not great.

Hes finished unranked twice in that time.

and in 2013 he basically had a horsehoe up his arse. the UGA game and the Alabama game are two of the luckiest endings I have ever seen.

What has he accomplished that O hasn't?

put the worst beatdown on O in the 100+ year history of the lsu/msu game while O had a 52 to 16 4 and 5 star player advantage.

If we are using "accomplished" is Gus better? Even though O has beat him twice

gus has titles on his resume as a hc.

sure

but hes also a lot closer to his last 7 win season than 0

he is boom or bust. Good coaches don't jsut have a good year every once and a while.

to be fair.. O just had the 2nd most nfl draft picks in cfb in 2017 and lost 4 games including a mid major.
also, last year was only the 2nd time ever that O won more than 2 conference games.

but I respect your opinion

and has proven he can take a program to the mountain top and he has proven he can win the sec.

until O does that, he hasnt surpassed Gus. but like I said... it's a subjective subject.

I hope after this year I can put O above Gus in my book.
