Nippolt can bunt… that’s about it

The Sunday Miss State attempt says otherwise, he did have a nice hit vs UGA though.

Prized transfer and opening day starter while Dugas watched from the bench.

This is where losing carter young hurt.

Has he had a hit all year?

Young and Pineda
And Guidry being your only middle inf prospect in this class ended up being a fail

Felt like pineda never was truly interested, i think young was 99% locked in until that huge dollar figure showed up last minute.
We definitely need to re-attempt to do that same thing again in the portal this offseason and land a couple

Dugas can’t turn double play

Oh that’s a given.
I don’t see anyone in this freshman class who I would normally say “oh yea he’ll step in”. They’ll need to go after 2-3 more.

Nippolt is 8 for 41 on the season. His BA is only .195, but his OBP is .375.
Dugas' last good game was the first game against MSU. Since then he's 5 for 36 (.139). In fact, since his injury against KY, Dugas 18 is for 82 (.220). In those 22 games, he's only had two of them with multiple base hits. His OBP in those games is .390.
I'm a Dugas fan, but his bat isn't outweighing his lack of ability at second base. Before the injury, it was easy to look past the fielding b/c of his bat. That just isn't the case right now.

Nippolt isn’t very good.

If Nippolt would have been playing second for the tournament, I believe he would have made several of the plays Dugas didn't when Skenes was pitching. I also believe that if Nippolt would have been up to bat in the 9th with the man on 3rd with one out he would have put the bunt down.
A bunch of ifs and second guessing but Dugas is not feeling well and you can tell it in his play. With his numbers posted above, I would rather have a guy that can play defense and bunt, than one that is struggling at both.

Jobert played 3rd he can easily play second

Dugas is not good defensively at 2nd. He has no range. Merrifield had one of the best preseasons of anyone, but he never really got much playing time this year.
