or Ohio State-Michigan or Alabama-Auburn in football ?

Sure, there is a huge dropoff nationwide in popularity from basketball to baseball, but it is pretty intense and well attended. Certainly in baseball when these other teams play one another, they don't draw flies.

Has Tulane ever won it all? No.
NOT the same.
Tulane is closer to ULL than LSU in sports- including baseball.
(We occasionally lose to either. Both make the CWS- on occasion. Neither is in a major conference.)
While I think Tulane has a better baseball program, they are closer to ULaLa than LSU- as a program.

Tulane isn't LSU's biggest baseball rival, so I think that prevents LSU/TU from being the nations biggest rivalry.

Then who is?

I'm sure some of you guys are too young to realize that Tulane has been a good baseball program for a long time.

Non-conference: I'd have to say ULL. Especially over the last 10-12 years. There's been a lot of bad blood.

SEC: I'd guess Alabama.

No way in hell USL is a bigger rival than Tulane is in baseball. Zero.

I'd throw in USC-Stanford,....USC-Cal State Fullerton...

I would think to compare any rivalry to Duke-UNC in basketball would require the teams to be close in proximity and BOTH to have a tradition of winning national championships.

It isn't the same. One team in the LSU-Tulane series (guess which?) looks at this game as its national championship game. If they win, they'll remind you for the next 10 years and will discuss those "good ole times". The other team moves on, win or lose and more often than not, makes it well into the post season.

for it to be a rivalry, they would have to win some meaningful games with us like Tulane has

Funny, Tulane has beaten us quite a bit in the last ten years in baseball, and I don't hear about it at all, except for the Super Regional they beat us in. I think you are confusing them with ULL, this isn't their championship game.

and college baseball fans all over the country talked about that series in 2001,especially the first game at Zephyr that we won.

I can see Florida State-Miami,Texas-Texas A&M but some of these others referenced are laughable.

This isn't true. ULL does that, not Tulane. Tulane did beat us in a Super Regional to keep us from going to Omaha. ULL has never beat us in a meaningful game.
