Most people who aren't from Louisiana or LSU alums have an unfaborable view of LSU.

Ha ha...Missouri will never be America's team.

Judging from the way the media covers it, Notre Dame still must be most popular. They Suck, yet they are mentioned every week on all media outlets. USC also gets more press than any SEC school. Lets face it, this weekend there was a top ten matchup in the SEC, and they could not help but put on Dork Sanchez from USC. They weren't even playing this week. Who cares as long as we beat them!

I'm not saying they will. I'm just saying I have never met anyone who is an LSU fan w/no affiliation (student, alum, resident) to the school.

I saw a photo on MTV of Kid Rock in an LSU sweatshirt from way back in the 80's. Just saying...

You folks from Mizzou, like your neighbors in Oklahoma, don't get out much, do you??

The most difficult thing for you guys to grasp is the concept of a "diverse culture" like LA possesses....you watch TV pics of the Katrina tragedy, the media clips about the poverty and crime in New Orleans, and consider the whole state to be a hodge-podge of idiotic cajuns with no education.

There are other parts of the country that don't have your midwestern narrow-minded "slant" on everything outside your part of the world.....

at least LSU (like USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida) evoke some type of response and identity from outsiders...... I can't seem to conjure any image up for Mizzou??? Just plain old dull!!!

Not yet, but I think we're moving up the list. The positive press LSU and coach Miles are getting right now can only be helping. After playing so many thrillers on national TV last year, plus another one last night, being so unpredictable, having a coach who seems one part crazy and two parts genius, I think more people are probably starting to have a favorable view of the LSU football team.

LSU became everyone's surrogate team when they use to pack the stadium in Cholly Mac days with some very very tough but hard luck teams. The fans created a sort of cult following.

Then they began to win BIGTIME with Sabin and the bandwagoners came for awhile. The 2nd BCS title cooled that quickly.

Now I think we have a bullseye and we are no longer wearing the slipper and certainly not the favorite of the SEC, Big 12 of Pac 10 fans in general.

Ummm...you left out, oh, about twenty years there. 1980 to 1999 to be precise.

I don't think so.

I think we're probably the most frequent "second favorite" team in the country.

Everyone was an LSU fan in '05 after Katrina. Not so much anymore after we realized all you people are RED-NECKS.

I dated a girl from Morgan City and spent a lot of time down there, hence my interest in the Tigers.

As far as popularity I believe Michigan is #1 in terms of merchandise sold but LSU is up there. I don't know if it's the transplants or bandwagoners but there are a ton of tiger fans in Texas I can promise you.

i think once you experience an lsu game day its impossible NOT to be a fan. i moved to baton rouge 5 years ago and couldve cared less about lsu. it took me less than a year to just dive right in and be a big fan. i mean now im in way over my head. i just got back from auburn, my dad flew in for the game from nj. he had been to 1 game at tiger stadium against moo state 2 years ago and it was an 11 am game. ive been begging him to come to a big game in the sec. by the end of saturday night he was yelling and chanting with the rest of us. being a tiger fan is infectious. no matter if i move away from baton rouge i will always be a huge tiger fan.

I travel a lot and can say first hand I have met people who have a very favorable opinion of LSU. My neighbors graduated from Penn State and they really like LSU and we talk about southern football a lot.

Can't say I have ever actually anyone from Mizz, or anyone who really even gives a crap.

I would have to say that LSU is one of the more popular teams, but far behind some others like ND, SC, Florida State and oh yea... Missouri

no.

6th or 7th (don't remember) in terms of merch sold, which is as good a barometer as any.

let's not kid ourselves. its still ND.

Yes, but ND is also the most hated tea in America.

There are a lot of fans that have gotten hooked on LSU's string of clutch performances over the last 5 years or so.
