I dont think coaches keep up with all the BS as much as the fans do. After all they are busy doing their job and then face it, what we hear/assume is different from the reality of it so what we hear and what the coaches know are likely two different things.

Good point. There is tons of behind the scene info we never know.

Looking through your previous posts you were negative even before the season fell apart. Tell me this, why not go to a Bama board to be with your own kind? I'm tired of Bama jerkoffs coming to our board posing as LSU fans just to get our guys riled up and flame the shite out of our team.

It isn't a matter of people not knowing the real deal. But it's easier to justify a good hire to your AD, Board, etc. if the guy you're hiring wasn't actually fired. Or, to put it differently, if he was fined, no matter how good a fit he is, the firing might cost him a job. It's about appearances which, like it or not, are important.

I was responding to his point that implied that the coaches were only leaving because they got better jobs.

absolutely....he comes across as somewhat of a goober because of his speaking skills and the way he handles interviews....

+1

The way he talks when a microphone is in front of him is completely different from the way he talks to the team and coaches. He uses a lot of "coach speak" in interviews and such.

My take on Miles : He is loyal to his players and coaches . Everyone else . That is the way it should be. In interviews, sometimes this comes across as him giving stupid answers . When in reality , he is saying F . U . it's not your business. With the whole D.C. thing , I'm sure he has known for some time those guys had to go. But, out of loyality and respect, he keep his mouth shut. This type of attitude from a H.C. builds unity within the team and staff.

It is somewhat ironic that people are citing the handling of the DC firings as evidence of Miles' intelligence.

It would have been much smarter not to hire them in the first instance, right?

Right.

In any event, I am very glad that they are gone.

I honestly can't decide if Miles is intelligent or not. Sometimes he strikes me as wise, sometimes as overmatched.

By waiting out the interview process for his coaches that wouldn't be around next year anyway, he's making LSU a much more enticing place for a Bo Pellini type who is rising through the ranks.
Were he to fire these guys as the season ended, he'd be sending the wrong message to prospective DC's and the like. LSU is a place where you can coach and move up in the profession rather than a meat-grinder where coaches get chewed up and fired.
This is a top-notch move my a top-notch coach.
Les, like mack brown at texas has realized the importance of great assistants and is making every effort to make a job at LSU all the more enticing.

I'm glad someone else notices the "undercover" gumps who troll the board. You'd think they would at least rep their team.

Pathetic.

A lot of people didn't agree with the promotions. But I do understand Miles' thinking. He wanted to keep the same system that had been in place and was working. I have no problem with that. It didn't work and he's making changes. Everyone makes decisions that turn out bad. The key to good leadership is correcting those mistakes.
