On the fastest hour I think it was Matt saying that Coach Miles is actually a very smart man.

His comments last year about not losing in regulation might have got us over the top last year to get into the NC game.

This year he was able to get away with not firing his coDCs, instead they get jobs. So now he has a selling point to get a good DC by saying he cant keep his coordinators because people are calling them for better jobs.

Think about it. The guy might come off as an idiot to some people but I think he knows what he is doing.

How many times did the Media say Charlie Weiss would exploit Miles - look what happened. Then the same last year with Tressel. "Miles will be outcoached"... blah...blah...blah.

I do think Miles is a lot smarter then what most give credit.

It was actually his wife that gave him this idea...which when he was asked to speak on ESPN..he used this to his advantage!

I think his funny syntax when he speaks hides how smart he may be. But who knows? The problem I have with him, reminds me of a scene in Bull Durham when Kevin Costner tells the manager that the players are just kids and he needs to scare them...

I think he could get on them more.

Nope, he's a complete an idiot.

With our talent, he should be undefeated since '05.

I think he's very smart. The way this year ends and the next one starts will be a true test for him. I think he does some really smart things over the next 8 months to turn this team around... and the first steps easy. He doesn't even have to fire his co-dc's.

absolutely....he comes across as somewhat of a goober because of his speaking skills and the way he handles interviews....

but he is after all, the very successful head coach of one of the elite programs in college football...analagous to being CEO of a large corporation....

you can't get a job of that caliber without having your shite together...

at least some bammers are reasonable, most are not however as you read on...They expect another 7-5 season...

I highly doubt that, Highly!

And that he can't coach etc..

someone forgot to post the Nick's LSU record...

I think BAMA Fans must be expecting 12-1 from here on out

What the other coaches will know is that Miles is a stand up guy and kept his coaches on staff until they found jobs. I think Miles made the right decision as the head coach and as a person.

LSU=AWESOME can add that one to his list of reasons we didn't earn or deserve our NC last year.

I agree with TigerDeacon. Miles has consistently shown himself to be a true professional. I don't think his public persona is a ruse, necessarily, but from what I gather he is an honorable and intelligent man behind the scenes.

I compare Miles to our outgoing Pres. Both very smart men. Both need a little help in the public speaking department.

ETA - I'm a big fan of both!

Miles is his own kind of smart. It may or may not be your kind of smart, but he has his own brand. His hat is part of that brand. Inside that hat is one large brain.

Even though I was sick about 7-5 and after some games cursed the coaching staff, when I really look at Les, he does the RIGHT thing and is the best all-around coach I've ever seen at LSU in my 25+ years of football awareness.

That being said, LSU needs to regain intensity, aggression and attention to detail that they had last season.

GEAUX LES!

there is one point i don't see get mentioned when it comes to how he handled letting his coaches go.

because he didn't fire them out right and helpled them find jobs he expanded his recruiting base.
they are going to smaller schools that don't compete with LSU when it comes to recruiting.

let's say there is a 5 star recruit in their area. now they have little shot tieing him down so they put the LSU/Miles bug in their ear.

great networking.

How can someone even doubt how smart he is? He may not be articulate but that doesn't translate into him being dumb. It reminds me of the perception people have towards GW Bush.
