Is it true that LR is the worst team in the 64-team playoff?

I just heard this, but was hoping I heard wrong.

Only team with a losing record and a rpi around 250. They are definitely playing out of their minds right now. This makes me feel bad about tonight, they have nothing to lose right now

Well they've beaten every team in their regional while others went 0-2, so you tell me.
On paper, they were the worst but they are playing like a contender.

Are they worse than RI and DBU who they kicked the shite out of? Their record says they are, yet the eliminated both of those teams fairly easily.
Weird game, baseball.

Record wise yes
RPI yes
But they were on fire coming into tourney
All about playing best ball at the right time
LSU still should win easily tonight

Probably. It was between them and North Dakota St. They are terrible.

On paper, probably
Clearly they are currently not the worst team though
Seems like a dumb thing to focus on

DBU made it easy for them making a bone headed coaching decision Saturday night.
When DBU brought in their best pitcher being down 5-0 to LSU Saturday night, they sealed their fate. You hold that guy and pitch him Sunday against Little Rock. That would be the equivalent of Jay pitching Cowan and Evans last night after we were down.

They are obviously not the worst team if they are still in it

They won the OVC regular season championship last year but went 0-2 in the conference tournament.
Last week their coach mentioned they had key players injured during the regular season that have since returned.
They’re no 2016 Coastal nor 2012 Stony Brook, maybe more on the level of the last year’s Wofford team.
We hit their ace pretty well on Friday (I assume he’ll pitch again tonight).

Seems like there is no excuse to play like you did last night either.

I didn’t play last night

If they win tonight they'll be the first team to advance to a Super Regional w/ a losing record.
Fresno State was 33-27 coming into the tourney as a 4 seed in 2008 when they won it all.

Imagine the epic melt down if we lose to these bums again tonight.

Not even the worst team in this regional. Rhode Island was awful

NDSU also had a losing record. They eliminated Kansas Saturday before being eliminated themselves Sunday.

I would certainly say they are. You know, funny things happen when you let bad teams hang around by handing them gifts. That's what teams have done all weekend against them, and now they're just playing loose, and everyone else is super tight, worrying about screwing it up. And when you start to worry about screwing it up, you tend to do just that.
We'll hear announcers talk about heart, and grit, and say that Little Rock got hot at the right time. Those are all the things you're supposed to say as an announcer. but the reality is that a host team should not lose to a team with a losing record, and the only reason they did, is because they fell all over themselves as soon as the least amount of pressure was put on them. We had two all-American pitchers go out there and make it look easy for two days, and took all the pressure off the rest of the team, and we saw our opponents press and make mistakes in the process. Our team faced it's first adversity all weekend, and just crumbled.
That doesn't make me feel confident about this team, whether or not they win tonight. They should win tonight. They should have won last night. But what is this team showing that tells me they are ready to battle with the best teams in the country? Can they? Sure, we've seen it at times. Can they be consistent enough, especially now that it's the post season, and every loss is way more damaging? Well, I don't know, but I have way more doubts about this team than any LSU team who has ever earned a top 8 seed.

They’ve won 8 of their last 9 and survived 4 elimination games, so their record doesn’t mean shite right now. Every one of the teams they’ve beaten the last two weeks is “better” than them.
Our players need to treat LR like what they are right now, which they didn’t do last night. We didn’t have to take them as seriously with Eyanson holding them down in Game 1, but he can only do a little tonight. Guys need to step up like this is a game in Omaha vs an SEC rival, because it may as well be until LR loses the momentum they’ve playing with.

Using the regular season stats, it’s probably true. But post season they are 8 of the last 10. And have scored 40 runs in 4 games.
They have been scorching hot in this tournament except for the opener and Eyanson. They were shut out. Now that they are seeing just about every kind of pitch and hitting most of them, it’s going to be difficult to shut them down.
