When did we recently compete for a championship?

I don't think you can call 3 loss seasons "championship calibre". There is, IMO, much rebuilding that Ed or someone has to do to get us back to competing year in and year out for the SEC title. I think it possibly could be in 2018 or 19 , depending on our QB play but that is a big factor. But the last few years of Les were not even close to competing for titles.

Les was done. His inability to change did him in. At one time he was on Sabans level and 3-2 against him. The 12 season was perfect microcosm of Miles era. What many consider the greatest regular season in college history beating 3 conference champions and going undefeated to lose in a rematch in embarrassing fashion by not changing a damn thing.

He should have been let go after the season as planned, The circus afterward is the brainchild of king and Alleva. They will not be with us much longer as a result

FWIW if LSU beats Auburn in 2016 in a disputed game, Les is still the coach even with losses to Bama the last two years.

It’s amazing to me that people outside of the Lsu fan base actually believe this. Les should have been gone after the 2015 season. After broken promises to change the offense or at least stay out of it he was done after that Wisconsin game. That was Les basically rubbing shite in the faces of the people that he made the promises to. The Auburn game was just the final nail in the coffin.

Miles did change the offense, but was shackled by Harris

Changing formations when you still struggle to complete a pass isn’t going to save your job.

Miles’ downfall was failure to groom QBs, and eventually failure to recruit high quality QBs.

Edit: Ensminger set some offensive records running the same offense, after Miles and Cameron were gone. Do you believe those records would have been set if the coaching staff had remained? Of course not.

fter promising Alleva and the BOS that he would drastically change the offense.
This is a crock perpetrated by tRant.
He said he'd tweek it, but wasn't going to overhaul with an engine like Fournette.
If you want to find out and out lies, search the present coach's pressers.

His overall SEC record down the stretch was really bad.

And many overlook his recruiting was starting to slip badly as well after squandering LF7's talents. Especially on the OL and DL. It had gotten to the point we could not win the trenches anymore.

LSU screwed up by not letting Les go as planned at the end of 2015.

May I ask you to explain to us what you believe to have been LSU's plan at the end of 2015? I ask because I myself have not seen any evidence in the last 5 years that LSU football powers that be had any plan at all. They seem to be totally and completely reactive -- react to events as they occur.

They seem to make it up as they go along. What plan did they have at the end of 2015? Fire Les Miles and then . . . what? Start a thorough search for a new HC? How could that be when that never happened, not even a year later?

Don't be a dumbass. Single game and individual records vs weak teams don't amount to much.

Read the LSU Media Guide offensive records chapter and get back to me after you get your foot removed from mouth.

I hope Ensminger is somehow a revelation but in reality the post-Miles offense in 2016 was very Miles like. Rack up points against terrible defenses (Missouri; Southern Miss; Ole Miss; Arkansas; A&M) do nothing against quality defenses (Bama; Florida). Based on that track record, Ensminger would have had the same results against Wisconsin and Auburn--both very good defenses in 2016. Check out Ensminger's results as OC at Auburn in 2008 for the same story (shut out against Bama; under 20 points against Tennessee; West Virginia; Ole Miss; Mississippi State; Georgia).

The typical Ensminger results will get Orgeron fired after the 2018 season.

The offense has been so enjoyable to watch after Miles, who cares if's less productive!!!!!
We didn't know 80% of the SEC would suck in September, and 9 wins are 9 wins!!!!
We comin.

No doubt. Do people remember the intensity of the boos at the end of the 2010 Tennessee game before we got the do-over to win?

I truly believe had that ball bounced the other way In Gainesville on the fake field goal things would have gotten very ugly. I'm a true believer that environment affects performance, and it was good we got to play on the road the weekend after that which was a good thing. Had we had to come back home after a botched fake FG it would have been toxic.

But it bounced up, and Les got some of his big sack swagger rep back enough to rally the program and finish the year strong.

The answer is much simpler. Although Les won a lot of games at LSU, his offense wasn't exiting enough compared to the offense Peyton was putting out down the river. The peasants got restless and staged a revolution, giving Ole King Les the King Louie treatment.
That was a lot of fun for them so now the are going through the entire French Revolution scenario again, seeking to give King Ed the King Les and King Louis treatment and waiting breathlessly for the next head coach to mount the scaffold and do it all over again, hoping that your King will come back to them.

Just when I think the dumbassery that comes out of your mouth has reached a new high/low...however you want to frame it up.....you produce this gem.

Has it? I guess I’m more excited by scoring more, winning more, and having hardware, but your mileage may vary, I guess.

I didn't see a link with that claim, but if true, it's likely curiosity that'll quickly fade.
And:
Peej goes on record stating losing 4 games is far more exciting than losing 3, while calling me a dumbass.
