I’ve always liked the Matt Mauck type. Just manage the game, put the ball where receivers can make plays.

ive never understood why posters on here call mauck a game manager. he was a playmaker for us and his 2003 season is one of the best ever at lsu.

Put together one of the finest seasons for a quarterback in school history, throwing for an LSU record 28 touchdowns and 2,825 yards in leading the Tigers to a school- record 13 wins and the school's first national title in football since 1958 ? Led the SEC in pass efficiency by connecting on 229 of 358 passes for 2,825 yards, 28 TDs and only 14 interceptions ? Threw at least one TD pass in all but two games for the Tigers in 2003 ? Tied the school-record for TD passes in a game three times with 4 scoring tosses vs. Western Illinois, Louisiana Tech and Arkansas ? Had two 300-yard passing games, going for 305 vs. Western Illinois and 311 vs. Louisiana Tech ? Tied a school-record by completing his first 14 passes vs. Louisiana Tech ? Tied another school-record by completing 17 straight passes over a two-game span earlier in the season (final 10 passes vs. Arizona, first 7 vs. Western Illinois) ? Set the school record for single-game completion percentage at 90.0 percent after connection on 18 of 20 passes vs. Louisiana Tech ?

Narcisse is so damn athletic though

He’s had both knees seriously injured. Might not be as athletic as you’re thinking anymore.

We aren’t getting saved by a quarterback, and we aren’t getting saved by beating Bama on the field. The only thing that will return us to championship caliber is running all of the dozens of requisite processes - recruiting, academic tutoring, conditioning, leveraging boosters, upgrading facilities, breaking down game film, reviewing our own tendencies, and many more - better than Saban, Meyer, Dabo, and Kirby. It will take an extremely talented executive to do it. Hopefully O is up to it.

Are you talking about the QB, the football, the coach, the tarp, the roof, the colors in the end zone?????

I just “hope and pray” one of the guys on the roster can be an above average QB. Take care of the ball and make smart decisions.

Have you seen the Narcisse runs in high school?. McMillan doest even look close to being that athletic and fast.

Yep, but his accuracy isn’t the same. That’s all I’m saying.
Our RBs will not be that good so you better have a QB that can throw on the run.

If mcmillan ever gets meaningful time that means something has gone very very wrong.

Considering the massive amount of talent we have at WR this year Myles' job might end up being pretty easy throwing the ball.

saying you want a game manager is like saying you want a very average QB. I'm hoping for much more from these two. WE need a QB who could help take this team to a SEC championship and into the playoffs and on to a NC. Both Brennan and Narcisse seem to have a lot of upside so we'll see what they can do with an OC who seems open to the idea of throwing the ball.

Most sensible fans would agree, just put the best QB under center.

You're not making sense as the backup is always the best QB on the team.

Justin McMillan is better than both on the run. He is more accurate at this point.
Don’t sleep on him.

You can sleep on him. This is a two horse race.

We had that last year. Didn’t get us anywhere.

You’re QB has to make plays. “Not making mistakes” as the main trait we look for is why we never find a QB worth his salt

You know why.
And we all know he was a play maker in 2003. In the biggest game of the year he was a game manager though. He had his worst game of the year in the one that mattered the most. His play was terrible, but he managed the game and didn’t make mistakes to lose it.
I like a bright QB who can read defenses, knows how many yards we need on 3rd down, and has pocket awareness. That’s what I mean by game manager. I’m sorry I didn’t include Mauck’s athletic attributes as well.
