Wasnt PM being bashed for bunting too much the last couple of years?

Cant have it both ways! I am personally an advocate of swinging away. I dont like giving up an out, and having one chance versus two.

Not pinch running for him at 2nd I was completely shocked.
and if the hitters don't get the pinch runner home, you have to finish the game with a backup catcher and without the guy who outside of Rhymes has probably been the hottest hitter over the last 2 weeks.

And if there's a base hit and Ross gets thrown out at the plate, or holds at 3rd, and LSU loses the game in extras....
I can play the "what if" scenario too. IMO the best baseball decision would have been to pinch run for him.

I'm not convinced there's many situations where you take your starting catcher out of the game, unless the backup is very good and experienced.
On top of that, Ross has been hitting well as of late.
Last season I would have agreed with you, but not now.
edit: man all sorts of spelling fails in there

Let me guess...with Fields? Cuz he's "fast"?

Luckily it was a terrific bunt (by Moore I believe) but so many times you see guys thrown out at second in that situation that I thought you had to PR for him.

I think AF is so excited just to be in the game he loses his composure. He trips himself, stumbles and falls down too much when he is running the bases.

Example: not having Nola bunt ross to 2nd base in the bottom of the 9th or 10th. Nola strikes out and then the next batter grounds into a DP. Terrible call.
We tried bunting on 2 different occasions late that game and it didnt work out. Why not switch it up and go with the hit and run or let Nola hit. If we would have bunted again and we dont get in the runner yall would be bitching about that too.

well, that certainly would be better than ross doing his own running...

Who said it has to be fields ?

Our bats came alive for one game. In the other two, our hitters still look pretty weak.
But to add insult to injury, Maineiri still makes maddeningly off-the-wall decisions on the basepaths. We are routinely run out of innings.
With runs coming at a premium for this team, I can understanding wanting to advance runners if and when we can. But this goes way over that line. It borderlines on outright recklessness on the basepaths.
I'm glad we won. Friday Night was a beautiful thing to watch. Saturday was gut-wrenching but high-drama. Sunday I admit I didn't catch as I was nursing a sunburn from the Spring Game at home.
But we need more discipline and to pull back on the reigns a bit on the basepaths. We're leaving runs out there.

Mainieri is not a great game coach and has never been one. Couple that with the way he all but abdicated his coaching duties following the national championship should be a concern for all LSU fans.
He has a way to go to win me over.

id have to agree with. Because he never plays, when he gets in the game on the bases, you can tell he wants to try and do too much to "impact" that game. I wouldnt be surprised if it bit us at some point. But he can run.

I can totally understand keeping Ross in the game. If he was an average to less than average hitter, I would pinch run for him. But with him being your 2nd or 3rd best hitter, you kind of have to keep him in, especially without a good hitting catcher behind him.

You are aware that LSU out hit Arkansas 2-1 the entire weekend, right? Wait, the hitting is weak because they didn't hit anymore homeruns, right?

I'll somewhat agree here, but there was really only one time that stands out from this weekend that seemed like a ball call opposed to a couple a game like usually happens.

I'm glad you agreed with me re: baserunning. I'm pretty bummed about you having to create a straw-man argument in an attempt to disagree.
Let me rephrase what I said in light of your comments by way of a response to you:
I am not concerned by what Arkansas's hitters do against LSU's pitchers when I talk about how LSU's hitting is doing against Arkansas's pitching. In any way, shape or form.
Arkansas' results when they are at bat have absolutely ZERO to do with LSU's results when they are at bat. Using their statistics in order to validate LSU's offensive production is patently useless in terms of furthering whatever point it is that you're driving at.
EDIT: My apologies, as I left one aspect of your response out. For the record, at no point in time did I mention home-runs specifically, although in general I referred to how gratifying it was to watch our bats come alive Friday Night. Which would include an inference to not only our home runs but all of our results at the plate.
Thanks for taking the time to read.

Every time the team wins a game, I support him 100%. And every time the team loses a game, I believe he should be fired immediately.

NO. I dont like how he throws his players individually under the bus publicly. His road record and his inability to recruit drives me crazy.
