Outside of the offense just going bananas, he should have never been in the running.

am a little concerned that Canada's offense may be too gimmicky at times. I am also concerned our team will lose some of it's physicality with regard to running the football.

Canada's offense is "gimmicky" in pre snap only. They will still run the football and run it very well. Power will always be the base of LSU football. Canada is just going to do it in a more modern way.

Gimmicky? I'm tired of that. You people who don't understand football think that every offense that isn't 2 yards and a cloud of dust is a gimmick. Is Ohio State a gimmick? Clemson? Hell even Bama last year?

Per the NCAA Total and Rushing defense:

Missouri was 118th in total defense and 112th in rushing defense. They were dog shite.

Southern Miss was 15th in total defense. Oh snap sounds good... except the were 46th in rush defense. Yet again, LSU was designed to win those games with Miles and Cam Cameron.

Ole Miss was 111th in total defense and and 120th in the nation for rushing defense. Yet again, dog shite.

Alabama was 2nd in total defense, 1st in rush defense, and we didn't do a damn thing against them.

Arkansas was 76th in total defense and 94th against the run. Congrats, they suck.

University of Florida was 5th in total defense. That being said, they finished 39th in rush defense, so yet again we should have been able to put more than 10 points on them.

Texas A&M was 90th in total defense, 80th against the run. They suck.

Louisville was 14th overall and 12th in total defense. That is his best performance on the resume. Good, but not hand the keys of a top 10 program OC good.

So, in short, he played 1 fantastic defense, one great defense, and one good defense, and the team only looked good in one game.

Interesting how people can use stats to promote their agenda.

We always talk about the SEC being the best conference in football. 6 of those games were SEC teams. 1 pretty decent OOC, and 1 really good OoC.

I could sit here all day and provide my own stats and "pick and choose" what I want to share.

But you can't have it both ways sir. Either the SEC is as tough as it gets or it isn't. These are the same teams we face year after year so comparing year over year and over decades is a pretty reasonable argument when you are talking stats...

The sec being a good conference (wasn't near the best last year) doesn't mean you can just ignore stats that show how shitty some of the defenses we played were

Agenda? Am I on crazy pills? It's not like Ensminger took an OC job at some other college, he stayed to be the tight ends coach.

The SEC has been top heavy the past couple of years, and is falling back to the pack in-regards to the other conferences. Also, all college teams have flaws so just because they have terrible defenses doesn't mean the offense is poo too.

Please do provide stats that support your argument, that's LITERALLY WHAT A DEBATE IS. You started this crappy thread, got irritated when people pointed out to you that your argument is pretty awful, and now you're using the tired line of "I could trot out stats BLAH BLAH"

Yes, yes you can have it both ways.

First of all, who the hell cares what a team did 3 to 4 years ago? They would have cycled through different position coaches, players, and some head coaches/coordinators.

Second of all you can be a good/great team while being not particularly fantastic on one side of the ball.

Third, the SEC didn't exactly dominate last year. The SEC went 6-7 in 2016 season bowl games.

Ensminger didn't want the interm OC job to start with. Definitely didn't want it full time going into '17.

What Ensminger did was show what the LSU "O" was capable of with just a little imagination in play calling.

Canada will take it to another level. Like others have said all that presnap motion and shifting is to make the defense to show it's hand.

Defensive rankings are 'cherry picked'? We played against teams with horrible defenses...it's pretty simple to see that.

How you like me now all you down voters?

Guess it turns out it was a good topic to discuss?

My gut was telling me that once these teams studied the "shifts", they would lose their luster. My gut told me that the effort to glamorize the running game would effectively make us less physical (because your focus isn't in the right place). My gut told me the jet sweeps would likely not work. My gut told me we wouldn't see the throws to the running backs (have they caught a pass yet?), the screens (have we seen one?), the pick plays and a host of other effective routes that work.

Ensminger ran an offense that was truly balanced.... and it set records. He utilized all the pieces, and put them together very well.

One other note. Guice has gotten too strong and has certainly lost a couple of steps. Having coached athletes for years, there comes a point where too much strength inhibits you. When I started hearing all the stories of him squatting ridiculous amount of weight I said to myself "that's not good, it's going to hurt him". Not sure what Moffit was thinking.

So I ask again.... at the end of the season, who you got? Ensminger or Canada?
