I pulled this from the SEC Rant, also haven't verified the stat FWIW.

quote:

Away from tiger stadium last year (6 games), Daniels averaged 187 yards, 61% and 1 TD

Daniels has looked much better in our two road games this season. But, it made me think about how he looked in the first half of the Ark game. He just seemed off and out of sync. The kid has been fantastic this year and is IMO the best QB in the SEC this year.

With that being said, we need him to be locked from the first snap on Saturday. I hope he got last years road woes out of his system.

We’re going to find two car dealerships on the way this year. First is to hype the team, second dealership is to focus. Clear eyes, full heart

I’ve been a huge Daniels fan from the start but yeah, he was objectively out of sync in that first half. Turned it around and played well the rest of the game though, which was great to see.

I hope that the mid-game turnaround and his undeniable and newfound propensity to throw the ball deep builds momentum for this weekend. I would hope his confidence is quite high, and his last road game in conference was excellent.

There were a few other factors in the first half of Ark. Oline was one of them. But what he did show was great emotional strength to not let any of that bother him and was able to go on that 75 yd, 18 second drive for TD at the end of the first half. Then continue in the2nd half. That will go a long ways for if he does struggle initially in another game. You don't just pull your starting QB just because he struggles a little in the beginning. Especially JD. But I do agree that it would be better to be sharp at the get go.

I think last week grew my confidence in JD. We’ve seen him have bad games, but for him to have a bad half and able to come back out in the second half and do what he did shows how much he’s grown mentally.

It seems like the plan for Denbrock is to start every game almost exclusively throwing the ball. Maybe its to get Daniels in a rhythm. Maybe it's to get an early read on the defense. But, IMO, with Diggs playing well, perhaps LSU might want to lean on the running game a bit more early.

I wonder if its a Denbrock choice or if its one of those "take what the defense is giving you" things. Like maybe defenses still don't think Daniels will throw down field so they are stacking the box? But also maybe Denbrock still hasn't learned to trust Diggs?

I agree. Run the ball. Diggs was born to run zone.

The major thing that changed between 1H and 2H was Daniels connecting. Missed Nabers on 3rd down on the first drive and missed on a couple of deep balls when the WRs had plenty of separation. If he connects on those, we're up at least 24-13 at half and run away with it in the 2nd half. He also got bailed out on a terrible thrown deep ball to BTJ in the 2nd half.

I think there's going to be a game soon where we chip away on 1st and 2nd down, he's off and misses the 3rd down plays, and it spirals on us due to the lack of D. I'm thinking it will either be @Ole Miss, @Mizzou, or A&M. I hope I'm wrong though

That game already happened against FSU. It wasn't necessarily Jayden being off as much as the WRs dropping the ball and the running game being nonexistent but the offense sputtered and the defense collapsed.

He didn't miss Nabors on 3rd down on first drive. He threw it low but should have been caught. Went right through Nabors arms. That's the play he got up holding his shoulder.

There surely wasn't any pre-contrived narrative

"away from tiger stadium last year" was actually 7 games.

He only played 1/2 of the UGA game and the Purdue game. He played well in both. Got hurt against GA and we were blowing Purdue out. He had the flu against Arkansas. He didn't have a good game against A&M

He played awesome against Florida. Those are 4 of his last 5 games away from Tiger Stadium last year.

Maybe in the second half but in the first half he failed to throw the ball SOON ENOUGH to two of our WIDE OPEN WRs.

People keep harping in this like it a some major issue.

Every single QB ever had had a bad quarter.

JD started slow. Whatever. But he finished the last 3 quarters as good as anyone could play the position. And he led 6 straight scoring drives to win the game.

I think that says more about him and his development than a slow start.

Here is a comparison of Dart @ home for Ole Miss and Daniel away for LSU. All games including this season so far.

Jaxson Dart
Home
Passing - 62.9% Comp, 208.9 YPG, 1.78 TD/G, 0.33 INT/G,
Rushing - 57.7 YPG, 0.22 TD/G
Overall - 266.6 YPG, 2 TD/G

Jayden Daniels
Away
Passing - 66.5% Comp, 218.6 YPG, 1.11 TD/G, 0.33 INT/G,
Rushing - 55.6 YPG, 0.67 TD/G
Overall - 274.1 YPG, 1.78 TD/G

Jayden is nearly as good away as Dart is at home over the last season and a half. Keep in mind that includes all of Ole Miss' cupcake games at home. This season only

Jaxson Dart
Home vs the #135-rated FBS defense and the #80-rated FCS defense. LSU is ranked #66 in total defense
Passing - 68.3% Comp, 292.5 YPG, 2.5 TD/G, 0 INT/G,
Rushing - 86 YPG, 1 TD/G
Overall - 378.5 YPG, 3.5 TD/G

Jayden Daniels
Away vs the #95 & #97-rated FBS defenses Ole Miss is ranked #61 in total defense

Passing - 73.2% Comp, 353.5 YPG, 1.5 TD/G, 0.5 INT/G,

You've watched Jayden play 4 games this year, and we're gonna worry about some cherry picked stats from a year ago?

Think you need to be careful about including stays from last year.
The o line is better, he’s more comfortable in the system in year 2.

Not sure that has any bearing at all this year.
