LSU needs a dual threat offense, meaning one that can pass and run effectively. That means that the QB must be able to pass effectively. If he can also run the ball, then that is a bonus. However, if he can run but not pass effectively then we are back to a one dimensional offense and that has cost us championships.

You talked about the reluctance to bench JJ. Im dorry, but Lee played a shite ton fir a back up. You also say this offense needs a dual threat. So if Mett struggles one game we should switch qbs? Les Stuck with mett last year and he has no escapability. He is going to play the qb he thinks gives us the best chance to win. Has nothing to do if the qb can run or not.

His biggest fault is he doesn't play the best players instead he play's seniors or older players, that has cost us some games.

We played the 2nd most frosh last season.

JJ was the younger of he and Lee. Why doesnt any one get that this is the biggest myth.

He was playing the QB who offered LSU the best chance of winning.

Yeah. He was super effective in the 1st half of the SECCG and in the BCSCG. JJ killed more drives than Lee ever did. When I was walking out of the GA Dome after the SECCG, I knew we were in trouble.

Unless you think a QB rating of 65 with 1 TD and 7 ints against Alabama gave LSU the best chance to win.

You do realize that Lee was one of the main reasons why we were 8-0 going into the Bama game in 2011. He was at the top of the SEC in passing efficiency and his QB rating was very high. He has one bad game and Miles pulled the plug on him. The kid never got a chance to redeem himself. He got a raw deal from Miles but he never said a word until after the season was over. Even then, he only said that he wished he would've been given the chance to try to help the team in the BCSCG. The guy was all class and he deserved better than what he got from Miles.

No need to limit it to the first half. He had a grand total 25 yards the entire game.

So you think we should have had better qb play than the #1 overall NFL draft pick?

Yes, LSU should have had better QB play in '05 and '06, especially in '06. We're talking about Jamarcus Russell. I don't give a rats shite if he was the #1 overall NFL draft pick? How did his NFL career work out??

The difference in QB efficiency between Lee and Jefferson heading into the national championship game was 1.13.

He had more than one bad game against Alabama, he's never performed well against them. This isn't some disney movie, you don't get a chance to redeem yourself on the football field just because you were "all-class"

Neither QB was good enough to win the BCS, the coach went with the one he thought gave him the best chance based on past performances.

He had one of the best seasons of any QB in college that year.

That's relevant to his performance in 2006 how?

Our passing offense ranked #99 going into the Alabama game and Lee had a QB rating of 15 in that game.

And you think Lee was even close to being a main reason LSU was 8-0, you are nuts.

I liked Lee, but he couldn't handle the pressure from the top SEC defenses and anyone with their eyes open after four years of watching him try knew that.

Cameron must have looked at the tape and told Les it was his Qb 's and not him.

Who'd have guessed?

With the level of passing game coordination going on at LSU over the last 5 years, JJ was our best option, hands down.

Not so much against inferior competition, but definitely against the teams standing in our way to the championship.

I don't want to belabor the obvious here, Les, but you're responsible for recruiting and developing good QB's.

The Perriloux debacle set us back. Kragthorpe was supposed to be the soution; health circumstances unfortunately prevented that. It is the head man's responsibility, and I expect his hiring Cameron will finally be the long term fix to our QB issues.

I think you misinterpreted my snide post. Of course Miles knows that he is responsible for our sub-par QB play.

sounds like his confidence in Mettenberger is overflowing ... great that we're already looking to next seasons QB play. needless to say had we stuck with Jarrett Lee for the ENTIRETY of the 2011 campaign CLM would've won his 2nd NC ... but hey, the past is the past, right!?
