this defense is no where near good enough to get us into the 12 team playoff

I was thinking the exact opposite. "Hey bud, we're gonna rotate you back and forth because we need you sooo much at both positions!"

If you've got a guy that can be a legit corner or a legit Safety, then you give him all the reps at one of those positions. This sounds like Sage is gonna be nothing more than a depth piece and not starting at either.

They did the same thing last camp. You're not going to rotate a guy at two important positions if you don't think they are smart. Obviously they think he can handle it. Sage isn't the greatest but he is reliable. Like it or not sage is probably going to start this yr.

Yep you have the whole season figured out based off of one practice where the media only released clips where the defense got beat.

Stingley #1! Cordalle flott was #3 in that rotation and a big piece on our success that year. Eat your words

Not gonna lie either, but in my opinion if Ryan and Burns are both starting we are in trouble. did you think we would magically get other players on this team playing safety? You've known this for over 6 months

It’s not magic. It’s recruiting. I was hoping a transfer or a young guy would improve and beat them out.

Btw, both aren’t playing safety at the same time right? One is star, right?

These two have played a lot of football, but experience gets you just so far. The ability to cover and tackle are very important.

A 3-star who didn't flash last year and 2 true freshman are going to improve this secondary?

Damn, this is how far DBU has fallen

this. Its like the rant doesn't want to see reality. Do you morons think LSU fans want LSU to suck on defense? DO YALL?

we just don't have good players and haven't recruited good enough to make the playoffs on defense.

Hunt Palmer said that he charted one total pass breakup on 25 pass attempts in one on one drills today. It's not just one play.
You, being ever the optimist , would bring up this and not understand, or pretend not to understand anything around it.

I watched the same tape. What i got of it is that LSU has an insane amount of athletic freaky pass catchers. They are going 1 on 1 which is heavily favored by the WR, and you're putting extremely athletic 6'6 freaks or guys who run 4.3s to be covered by safeties and freshman DBs. Think about this, why did they put Lacy, a 4 year veteran 6'2 215 WR, on a true freshman 165lb DB? They want to toughen these guys up. This is straight man coverage and nothing else. This doesn't test anything in a full defensive scheme. They wont see any better collection of athletic monsters anywhere else but LSU and that is a fact. Nobody has the receiving talent we have in mass at WR and TE.

Seriously. People don’t seem to understand that 1 on 1 drills coupled with the fact that we have the best TE room in the country hold little weight vs actually game situation where there are 10 other guys on each side.

I just hope Zy is healthy and we don’t roll Ryan out there at corner because he’s had more PT than the younger guys.

If you watch Zy in those clips he is way behind in getting back to form.

Alexander isn’t completely ready from the ACL. Of course Woodland is ahead of him for now.

I mean.. you said we had 2 corners start as freshmen. Stingley and Fulton both started 15 games. Flott started 1 game at nickel.

If you want to claim victory on that statement based on the position being “nickel corner” or something then be my guest, but telling folks to eat their words is a little ridiculous IMO.

Big difference between being a day 1 starter, at corner, as a freshman like Stingley vs. starting 1 game at nickel 3/4 of the way through the season.

The reality is we had one freshman starter among the DB’s (Stingley) and 4 juniors/seniors (Fulton, Stevens, Delpit, and Vincent).

pj woodland has the most upside and don’t be surprised if he doesn’t start day 1. If not, he will be in the CB rotation. Kid has a bright future.

I can see him in the rotation and maybe in the majority of reps right now but his size is going to be his limitation. Right now we dont have a plethora of choices.
