re: Indiana Recruit Ranking Averages

It's both. It's not just coaching and scheme. You need talent too. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. If you want to win championships you need top recruiting classes, top portal classes, AND coaching+scheme. It's not one or the other. It's all of them. That simple.
Indiana looks fairly talented this season to me. CJ West which was a portal pickup that LSU tried to get is a wrecking ball. It's not like they were devoid of talent or lacked going into transfer portal. They have talent. It's possible other universities overlooked the talent they grabbed on their roster too. Recruiting rankings mean nothing. It's actual talent you get but you absolutely must have talent to win anything which Indiana clearly has.
Would Indiana be doing the same with Florida or LSU's schedule? I don't know.

11.6…..not in the country. In the BIG10
It’s about coaching and scheme.
And a very weak schedule helps

you want 20 group of five transfers on the lsu roster? in one season? I dont
Now multiply that by 1000!

Coach just got an extension for 8 million dollars a year..

Relativity, does he beat equal or lesser teams, does he beat more talented teams. The answer to both is yes, for us it’s no. This isn’t that hard

What more talented teams has he beaten? Kelly has 3 wins over teams that are currently Top 10 or finished in the Top 10 in 3 years and only 3 losses to teams finishing lower than #11.

Nobody talking, Supes, about how almost all of those guys came with Cignetti, and are like 25-years-old in their 5th-7th years in college? A lot easier getting them to play well together than piecemealing 4-5 guys per unit from different schools who’ve never played together before.
I think Cignetti’s a really good coach, and I hope they win today. And with the extension they gave him, they may actually have some legit buy-in by their boosters and fan base. But they’re gonna take a huge dip next year. Even if they land a nice class and some guys out of the portal, running out 18-20 year olds instead of 23-25 year olds is gonna be a huge difference, especially in a physical conference like the Big 10. And they couldn’t possibly catch a better break with an easier schedule.
They may figure out a way to be competitive moving forward. For Indiana anyway. But make no mistake, this year is a special 1-off. Yet, we have retards—maybe even the OP—who literally suggest we take this 10-game sample size, fire BK and eat his $70 million buyout, and hire 63-year-old Cignetti. Oh, we’d have to pay him and his staff too. And whatever his buy out is to Indiana after they gave him that huge extension. They ain’t letting him walk for free. After 20 years on here, it’s still wild to me how stupid a large portion of our fans are, and are just incapable of any sort of reasonable, rational, objective thinking.
All that said, go Hoosiers today.
exactly and well said

I think most people believe Kelly is a huge problem atm and better coaching may be needed. It doesn’t mean we don’t need elite talent to be consistently good also.

His team is rated 12th in the big ten in talent so everyone above that. Kelly’s teams have been top 8 or better nationally since he’s been at LSU yet is 4-12 vs the top 25 (worst record here in 25 years) and has been blown out by every top 5 team we’ve played save 1.

there is quite literally no way LSU can have a SEC schedule as weak as Indiana’s B10 schedule this year

That doesn’t include 27 transfers.

8 million to get beat down against ohio state
you'd want him fired right about now, huh

Btw, Indiana is currently getting killed. Not that it matters. They’re great and will have a great year. Even if they were to go all the way, it doesn’t change anything. Deep talent is needed for consistency.

their schedule has been extremely laughable up to this point. their best win is nebraska

Meh, been watching LSU since 1979. The program is average to above average and will win 9 games a year with the exception of one season every 5 or 6 years
I’m not trying to tell you how to be successful, I was simply pointing out that Indiana has an average ranking of 11th in the BIG and that coaching and scheme play an important role.
Sorry if you read more into than that. Also sorry that Kelly isn’t the coach you thought he was, especially for $100,000,000

Agreed, but they’re still undefeated in week 10.

Doing it the completely opposite way.

It does
Does it also include players no longer on the roster for teams like Washington and Michigan? What truly talented team do you think they have beaten that’s actually playing well this season? They haven’t played Oregon, Ohio St (down 21-7), Penn St, USC, Iowa or Wisconsin. That’s 6 of the 11. Washington and Michigan lost their coaches and a lot of their roster and each have 5 losses. That’s 8. Nebraska is 2-5 in conference and UCLA is 4-6. Not sure who the 11th is. They’ve beaten no one with a winning conference record and only Washington at 6-5 is bowl eligible.
