The key is dedication and brotherhood.
Add in the intelligence factor and that unit is elite.

I’ve said for a while you need to be able to run the ball and play great defense just like we see with this Indiana team.
That’s why Les won so many games. Just needed a competent qb. Their qb tonight didn’t need to throw for 400 yards for them to win.

Indiana tackles with great technique and brings the wood. This is how football used to be played by a lot of teams. Fun to watch real football being played. Very well coached team. Getting the job done and not a lot of look at me nonsense.

Disciplined. Great technique and they play as a unit. Totally dominated Bama up front!

quote:yes, that is actually true. It had a tangible effect that we all saw...
And the brains to be able to process it and understand.
Oh and you also need an OL coach that also has the grey matter to teach his craft to his pupils.
- being in passing stances (and poor technique) made our run blocking pitiful
- by pass blocking on RPOs even if our RBs made it through LOS they ran right into S and LBs. In theory the misdirection should solve that, but and here's the biggest problem.....
- because we couldn't trust our OL to not go downfield and we were dedicated to passing on RPOs, not running, we had to throw behind the LOS on those passes. And no one was fooled.
LSU was 108th in TFL against (over 6 per game); many of them were our RPO passes.
Why was this happening? They knew because of the OL we were likely to pass, and were going to pass behind LOS and were waiting on us simply all because of poor coaching of the OL.
So now we can't run because we're not moving anyone off the LOS and get behind the chains. Then we pass for no gain or TFL, get even further behind. And all at the same time our passing game is limited to no downfield passing because we were wed to RPO being this magical misdirection but it really was our limiting factor all based on blocking scheme.
And that's basically what we saw all year:
- no run game
- followed by dink and dunk that wasn't working
- and then we can't make 3rd and longs (96th in the nation) because our OL can't protect the QB.

They have the best OL coach in the country. Check out his resume

When OL have to make more reads than the QB, it's important as an OL coach to know what those reads are. No better way to do that than to coach any part of a defensive front 7 (LBs in Bostad's case)
Not to mention he's been in the NFL, as an OL coach, and brings those reads and training regime to CFB.

Need to take some of this big midwestern dudes to The Chimes
“Try this bisque - it has corn!”
“It’s called a boatload, they fry everything that swims!”
“White. Chocolate. Bread. Pudding”
They’ll commit on the spot.

Continue your efforts as one of those contemptible individuals who exploit their position of authority to manipulate and shape the impressionable minds of young people
