Independent like Notre Dame?

Reminder that Notre Dame is only independent for football. For all other sports except hockey, they are a member of the ACC. Hockey is Big10. They also play 5 ACC football teams every year. LSU non-football sports would still need a conference.

This is a doable scenario if the ACC would agree to it. We would be independent but still have 5 ACC games to help fill out our schedule.
All the other sports would have what they need as well.

I could easily see the Big 12 taking the non-football sports in a second.
Maybe do a similar set up to Notre Dame. Join the Big 12 in all sports but football (maybe add Boise State as a football only member to balance it out).
But have a firm scheduling agreement with the Big 12. LSU agrees to 5 games a year against the Big 12. Rotate the 5 teams each year. So any player (I know it doesn't happen anymore, but there are some exceptions) or student at a Big 12 school would see their school play LSU once during their time.
Heck I would even be okay with 6 games a year against Big 12 schools. That helps fill out the schedule, guarantees some good games and gives us Independence in football.
For the remaining 6 or 7 games, schedule 1 rent-a-win game against an in state Louisiana school, similar to what we do now. Bring back Tulane as a permanent game (with the caveat games at Tulane would be in the Superdome to allow LSU fans in New Orleans a home game they don't have to travel to). Try to get a permanent yearly game against Notre Dame going. And then schedule 2 or 3 games against ACC or Big Ten schools.
Only schedule an SEC school if they meet the following conditions:
1) They didn't vote to expel or sanction us.
2) They agree to Big 12 refs and the transparent Big 12 review office being used, with absolutely no SEC involvement.
It will eliminate most SEC schools, but I could see us being able to play Florida, Arkansas, Texas A&M or Oklahoma. Absolutely do not schedule Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas or Ole Miss ever again.

LSU would end up paying 12 G5 teams to play them every year, ticket sales and media rights revenue would crater as no one wants to watch LSU vs La Tech 12x a year
I don't think anyone understands that no P4 team worth a damn would ever agree to a h&h with an independent LSU. LSU's national appeal as an independent is literally 0, just as it is when they play any G5 team
