I was showing my 6 year old the Tennessee game 2000. Told him his dad was right in the middle of it.

To this day I remember being at the base of the fence the ground shaking and me and a small group of friends looked up and were like oh $$$$ we got to jump the fence and move

Only thing I would trade that for is to rush the field with my dad again vs UF in 97

Are a future rush as my son told me tonight that’s cool can I do it one day …
Told him only if it’s the right game but if it is go for it!

Fastest field storming ever from the Virginia students?

No, Kentucky will always hold that title. They were tearing the goal post down in the opposite end zone.

When they stored the field…it was as satisfying as when you finally get to blow your load

It was 2000, I watched the game in the hospital with my wife.
She had given birth a few day before, there were complications. I couldn't bring her home until that Saturday, we watched the game in the hospital with the nurses. Another we before I could bring my baby home.

Our daughter turned 25 today.

The walls around the field at Tiger Stadium are pretty high — it really delays the students/fans getting down to the field.

They were standing and then running down a hill in that end zone. Not running from stands.

My thinking too... and a factor that made their storming the field so easy.

“And the fans are on the goal post…I don’t know why”. That Kentucky radio broadcast was all time.

It would be cool if they would start circling like a hurricane with the eye being over the Virginia logo at mid field.

Impressive field rush by Virginia

This may be an unpopular opinion but there’s nothing impressive about rushing the field against a program that was 2-10 last season.

The UVA students are living in an age when only the present and future are of interest to them. Rushing the field was quite impressive.

The guy from UVA who intercepted the last pass looked like he got trampled.

I was fearful of that when it happened. Both the receiver and the defender were on the ground and the crowd was already on the field. Evidently they allow students to sit in the grassy endzone so there was no resistance to the instant crowd rush. In 5 sec there was about 10K people on the field.

In 1979 when I was in college there was a Who concert in Cinncinnati where the crowd rush killed 11 people when the doors were unlocked for entrance. This was the end of general admission seating at most public events. I knew some people who lived up there when this happened soit is engrained in my memory.

quote:

The Who concert tragedy in Cincinnati on December 3, 1979, is one of the most notorious events in concert history. During the concert, the doors were open before the band even started playing, leading to a massive surge of fans into the arena. This surge resulted in a tragic stampede, resulting in the trampling deaths of 11 people, ranging in age from 15 to 27. The concert was attended by 18,348 fans, and the tragedy was so severe that it prompted the city of Cincinnati to implement new regulations for crowd management at public events. The incident remains a significant reminder of the importance of crowd safety and the potential for tragedy in large gatherings.
