I’m worried about Denbrock trying to put a square peg in a round hole

This is coming from a guy who misses old school football, but the bottom line is our WR corps is our biggest strength.

Yet MD says today that “TE and RB are a big part of what we do”. I don’t know how you can argue that our best personnel group isn’t 4WR. Boutte/Bech/Jenkins/Nabers with Lacy/BTJ/Hilton as quality subs.

Nothing against Mashburn (an underrated blocker who helped TDP win the Florida game) and Taylor, but if they’re regularly on the field at the same time then we have a problem.

I think Denbrock knows his personnel. Thanks for your input.

Go watch Cincinnati offense vs somebody on YouTube. It’s a balanced offense but they throw the ball around the yard.

I think it’s a given that our receivers will have the bulk of the catches.

I’m torn because I would have killed for him as OC in 2009-2018.

But the roster has been rebuilt to run “the Joe Brady offense” - hoarding elite WRs and shifty backs with little focus on TE and no FBs.

We will find out soon, but I can see where you are coming from.

I have faith in Kelly and Denbrock to not pull a Coach O and force it like Coach O forced a 4-3 when we were clearly set up for a 3-4.

Why don't you give him a chance to call a few games before you start worrying.

You don't think Moss and CEH were a big part of what the 2019 offense did?

Recognizing the importance of the TE and RB positions doesn't necessarily minimize the importance of the receivers.

Precisely
Just saying you're going to use the TEs and RBs don't mean that you're going to just Ignore the WRs

Look at the 23 class as the personnel model. Massive athletic freaks at TE and 5 star LA WR talent. That means our 21 personnel can be deadly. Add Kelly’s ability to develop the trenches and you have an offense that can do basically anything they want. Including a clock grinding run game.

we had 30 scholarship players at end of last year. Nothing was built.

I think you are over looking why he said that. He preceded that statement with the fact that we have explosive receivers, and teams are going to adjust to that, which will leave more opportunities for the RB’s and TE’s to make plays if they earn the opportunity.

So far all I’ve seen in practice is them running RPO with 3-4 receiver sets

My biggest worry is his offense isn’t setup to beat bama which is the key to winning the west and the sec.

The bama d is still built to eat up his type of offense and did so vs UGA 1 and against his cincy team.

Now if bama still has a less than lethal offense thanks to the most undeserving heisman winner ever it may not matter and could turn into a old school slug fest.

The offense is good enough to win 10 but we need to beat bama with it.

Take it more as want te to be more involved, but don't have personnel. He and Kelly have stayed that, which Kelly said he'd fix with the recruiting class (and is). Rb, I can't tell you how many times max would have looked like an all sec qb, if he would just dump the ball to tdp last yr. Rb I'm the passing game has been absent since clyde, and will be great to see again. The rb pass, even if it's a bailout, helps you avoid negative plays. If it's to cain, emery, Goodwin, those guys can go get you 5-7 out of nothing maybe.

We have the best wrs in nation, their going to be the targets.

Nobody is beating Bama this year so go ahead and take that off your mind. If LSU wins 10 games this year and loses to Bama, we need to have a parade.

I would argue that CEH was a big part of what took place in 2019. But don't worry, the forward pass at LSU is not in danger.

Denbrock likes multiple TE sets bc it gives him more options on the field, especially if the TEs are athletic. He wants to be a power run offense, which you absolutely need inside the red zone, but he also wants to be able to disguise a high powered passing game using the TEs as well.

LSU may not have the TEs this year to run this style offense, but they are going to load up in recruiting in the coming years.

That is a pathetic attitude, our expectations shouldn’t be lowered.

Bama isn’t that good unless Bryce young stopped sucking.
