Had more to do with the defense we ran, rather than the offense they ran. We played man-2-man and most defensive coaches understand you have to play zone against the Pirates air attack.

So if we are playing man-2-man then you have every reason to be scared, but hopefully last year taught O a lesson! And if it didn’t and he plays man-2-man with bump and run coverage then we won’t have to worry about it in 22 when we play cause O won’t be coaching at LSU.

I think LSU is going to contain their offense pretty well. Wouldn’t shock me if LSU kept State out of the 20s.

I’m more worried about LSU’s offense against their defense.

Look, I'll give credit where credit is due. The guy kept the 2016 season from potentially going off the rails and had 9 win regular seasons in 2017 and 2018. Where there some questionable decisions during those seasons? Absolutely! But that level of success doesn't just completely happen by luck. He helped put the pieces in place for 2019, but it wasn't is only good season at LSU.

Since that time it has been mostly a mess. Does he right the ship? Don't know. Personally, I think the LESS he is involved with on field decisions/approach, the better. But I'm willing to withhold judgment until after this game...and the rest of the season, because while the last 13 games have been mostly bad, there is evidence of good in his career at LSU. I guess my point is that if MSU torches LSU again in the same fashion they did last year then it will be clear either (a) Ed doesn't know why they got beat last year and/or (b) doesn't understand the steps necessary to fix the issue. Which at that point it will be time to consider moving on because things are unlikely to get better.

LSU's goal should be to score 50 and not be dependent on the defense keeping MSU in check. Just assume State is going to score 30 and keep the offense revved up the entire game, no ball control trying to milk the clock midway through the 2nd quarter bullshite. Boutte, Smith, Bech, and Kiner need to feast all game long.

50 sounds good but this will be the best defense LSU has faced. Hopefully last week wasn’t a fluke and LSU can build off of that performance.

Certainly you want your offense to execute no matter what you defense does. But if MSU scores more than 30 (absent defensive or special teams TDs) then LSU still has a BIG problem on defense considering MSU has only scored above 30 ONCE this season...including failing to put 30 on the board against a team (Memphis) that gave up 50 in a game vs. Arkansas St. and only scored 30+ in one other game last season besides the one against LSU.

MSU has played 14 games now under Mike Leach. They have scored 30 in only THREE of those games with their largest scoring output, by far, coming against LSU.

I'm not predicting LSU scores 50, I'm saying that LSU's mentality should be "we have to score 50" because State is never going to stop throwing punches, that's what Leach does.

In a back and forth game or shootout, whomever has the ball last is behind and trying to take back the lead.

I would prefer to be the team that just took the lead, gave the ball to the other team and time runs out.

In that case, the team who has the ball last lost.

I'm not saying he would be canned the next day, but he would know it would be over. I think he has to win this game to have a chance at 8 wins. If he loses I think you are looking at 6-6 or 7-5 and he knows that won't cut it. Not sure if 8 wins will cut it at this point.

He's not getting fired at 8-4. If LSU goes 8-4, that means at minimum they beat State, Auburn, Kentucky, Florida, and Arkansas in SEC play. Disappointing record at 8-4, but not getting fired.

When LSU wins 48-17, you will say, well, it was just Mississippi State!

You will then start worrying again next week because it’s Auburn, and since they beat us last season, you will be scared again.

I understand that, but if he loses Miss St. One could logically infer that him beating all those teams would not happen. Leaving him with 7 or 6 wins. If he loses this, he will not get to 8 games. That's why I like LSU in this game. I think he is very aware of how hot his seat is, and knows that to get 8 games he will have to win this one.

Arnett is 100% going to blitz the ever living shite out of max and our Oline. Every sec team will (should) do this until our offense effectively runs the ball or runs screens.

Defensively we should never leave the 4-2-5 period.

Ricks, sting, Dwight, ward, Lewis all out there in zone. Baskerville and Clark should only be covering running backs if they do cover anyone.

This is a tough game to predict. Some scenarios I see a shootout where whoever has the ball last wins. Others I see us winning kinda convincingly by like 17 or so. And then there's always the possibility that we shite the bed and get beat pretty handily.

So what you are saying is anything can happen?
