cannot turn recruiting around this year, we probably need to start entertaining the idea of a new coach at the end of the season.

I have been supportive of Coach O, and remain so today. However, we have positions of need all over the field. Positions where good athletes can come in right away and either start or see significant playing time.

And if Ed O can't get players to come now, the remaining part of what is keeping LSU (and coach O for that matter) on life support will be gone.

Recruiting is supposed to be his strength. I don't blame him for the holes that currently exist on the team (and there are tons of them), but I will blame him if he can't sign a great class this year (especially with so many areas of need).

How in the world have we not been able to get a RB the last 2 years?

The clock is ticking O. I truly want you to succeed, and I am routing for you... but the clock is ticking......

If we don't make a bowl our recruiting will tank. Coaches won't last. Maybe Will Wade can coach both.

Yeah, if we can't lock up Buggs, Wilson, and Phidarian Mathis by signing day, there should be hell to pay.

Correct. All of the people who (erroneously) attribute our woes this season to a lack of talent apparently presume that there is a phalanx of blue-chippers in the wings. There isn't. Os first full recruiting class is a stinking mediocrity at this point.

Yep. There's no excuse for his sub par recruiting so far. And there are negative rumblings for 2019.

Herman went into Texas and locked things down. I don't want to hear any excuses for O. Poor recruiting could do some serious long term damage for us.

It's settled then. I'll fire him at the end of the season. I'll do it swift and fast right before Christmas Day.

It's well below mediocrity for what LSU recruiting classes usually look like, even this early in the process.

Currently there are 18 committed, zero 5*s, six 4*s, and the rest 3*s. That WAY below where classes have historically been, including last year after Miles got canned.

I don't think you can honestly, and objectively attribute the program's deterioration on him. This season is a reflection of so many errors made by Miles the last 3-4 years.

However, O to some extent was given the job in hopes of keeping the program from deteriorating further past this season. If he cannot recruit this year, how will he when the record gets worse next year?

It pains me to say this, but if he can't get better players committed by Decemer, you'd have to fire coach O. It's a shitty deal.... but that's business.

You heard it here first. Your new LSU HC next season will be Dave Aranda.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't like the idea of how many young up and comers get swiped up by the sec this year. mcelwain may be done. fat brett is done. jones is done.

I can recall O being the recruiting coordinator before he got the HC job. I want to say the kid's name was Akers, that chose FSU over LSU, and that one was a "can't miss". There was no reason for him to choose FSU considering he was not the only Elite back that FSU signed in the last cycle. And Fournette had just left and everyone across the globe knew that Guice is done after this year and our primary RB target was Akers.

Someone didn't do their fricking job, period. I don't know which coach ultimately failed to secure Akers but that one shouldn't have slipped by. No way, no how. I know there are plenty of other targets to complain about also that we shouldn't have lost... but Akers to FSU was inexcusable considering our dire need for him.

I still feel decent about our backs being reliable and serviceable next year, but Akers certainly would have been the featured back in 2018. If we can't lock up the above mentioned players and we somehow miss on Terrace Marshall or lose a commitment by Dare Rosenthal, we can pretty much forget about future depth and press the coaching reset button without hesitation.

O was touted as a good hire because of his exemplary recruiting track record and his ability for continuity as opposed to a full on rebuild. We were supposed to pick right up and continue what Les was doing, only improve on it. That's why we let Les go- to do better, right? And, so far we haven't looked great in any game so far this year, and recruiting has tanked something fierce. So on the strongest two campaign guarantees, we are behind the 8 ball so far.
