He’s either coming back or going pro.

If he’s staying, why would he risk his draft stock going to a new program, new offense, new teammates? Makes no sense. The real money is in the NFL.

He will stay for the second year improvement.

I think he stays because he can play his way up to being a top 3 QB next year. He’s not that right now. NFL teams have been burned a lot by taking QB’s in the first round with less than 2 years as a starter in college. Anthony Richardson, Mark Sanchez, Mitch Trubisky immediately come to mind. Doug Nussmeier is obviously aware of this. The right decision for Nuss and LSU is for him to come back and try to make the jump in year 2 like Mett, Jayden, and Burrow.

He is probably the third best QB prospect if he was to enter this year. Probably good enough to be a first rounder.

Also not making an announcement yet feels a bit weird.

What are yall thinking?

Being the 3rd best QB in a crap QB class doesn't mean much. The 3rd QB in 2022 went in the late 3rd round (Malik Willis). Nuss would be a 3rd rounder this year. No one wants to draft a Kenny Pickett again, who never should've been a 1st rounder. The only guaranteed 1st round QB this year is Shedeur.

The QBs are arse. All of them. Even if he gets drafted, he’s a 3rd round or later, Jake Haener depth guy at best and likely out of the league in 3-5 years. There’s teams looking for QBs but there’s a lot of backups in the league who will get money before guys in this class do.

He could get 1st round money next year if he stays.

We could kick the tires again with TJ Finley. If that happens, LSU is screwed.

I think he meant slim in terms of other QB’s available.

Who do you have 1 and 2? I hope you don't say Ward. While mocks may have him higher....they have played absolutely no one and he still has struggled.
Ward hasn't struggled one game lol. While he has made a couple dumb mistakes, he's been exceptionally good in every game and his talent is clear as day.

not arguing with you....but he has played no one and still struggled a lot. I will be completely shocked if he isn't a bust. Same with Milroe.
Milroe's best case is Jalen Hurts, but i see a bust. No way in hell Cam Ward is a bust. I feel you have some animosity towards him because he gets praised a lot, but give it a rest. It reminds me of the people who 100% expected Josh Allen to be a bust. Josh Allen coming out isn't even close to being in comparison to what Ward accomplished at 3 different schools.

The real trash of the draft would be Ewers and Beck. Nuss is way better than those two.

Nuss played bad against every good team LSU played, so what is the difference, really?
Earl you can't be bringing facts. The one thing that is clear as day is that Nuss played bad vs every good team we played. He's still better than Beck and Ewers, but Ward is better than all 3 by a good bit.

Don't know about you, but with the right team, I'm thinking Houston level Deshaun Watson.

Nuss is not ready he needs another year and then he might be a top 10 pick next year. He needs more seasoning.

So will he go? I don’t think so I think he stays

It’s going to get real ugly if Nuss doesn’t come back. Rolling out an 18 year old Hurley isn’t the answer. Swann showed how bad he is. I don’t know what’s in the portal, but even Burrow and Daniels needed a transition year.

Yeah, It seems like if he was staying he would have said so by now. I mean what's the point in waiting.

For some reason I’m never impressed with Gabriel everytime I watch him. Nothing about him just stands out to me.

Coming back. There is a method to the madness in waiting to announce.

Nuss would be making a catastrophic mistake not declaring. He's not good at all, but this is the worst draft class for QBs in history

Daniels didn’t announce he was returning until Christmas. We had several players declare for the draft in January after last season.

We still have quite a few players left to announce whether they are declaring. The deadline to declare for the draft isn’t until 1/15. The deadline for coaches to request evaluations from the NFL College Advisory Committee (draft grades) isn’t even until 12/13. It’s likely that Nussmeier hasn’t received his draft grade yet.

Thought this seemed obvious...but you didn't catch what I was saying. I meant if he leaves the crop of potential incoming QBs looks thin for LSU.

CBS has him 6th right now, if his draft grade comes back at this position or worst Nuss should stay put. It’s that simple. He should be talking to CJ Daniels to run it back so he could have better options to throw to. If he has any leadership qualities, he should be talking to players on the fence and telling them to run it back to win a Natty.
