In Orgeron's first head coaching position, he sucked at it. Now, he's still not a kick arse head coach. See the difference?

You guess wrong. But Orgeron's job isn't to improve as a head coach from his Ole Miss days. His job is to improve the LSU football program. He hasn't done that thus far.

Did you repeat the exact same mistakes your second time through?

I have no idea what your zen horse story has to do with what I posted. Maybe I'm stuck on stupid today.

How old were you? And how long between those positions? Generally, skillset development and general growth slow with age. There are few people who suddenly become geniuses 30 years into their career.
O has never been even close to a great head coach, therefore, logically speaking it would be extremely rare for him to finally and suddenly "Develop" those skills.

Bears repeating.

I’m not saying he is, but.... this is his second full time job, so how can you say this?

He has had one full yr! Hahahaha
I agree the Canada deal looks bad, plus his binder said he would let his coaches coach, he didn’t do that.
He has brought in a q.b., the savior aranda says one of the best dline depth he’s been around, recruiting at high level, (if he can keep them through signing day).
What is not to be excited about? My question is now, let’s see how him and Steve can coach them

O is our Head Coach.

This is the same stance that 90% of the "negatigers" have and get accused of wanting LSU and Orgeron to fail.

Why stay so focused on the past?
Turn around and enjoy the ride. It could be a lot of fun, or we could slam into the side of a mountain. Either way, what's done is done. No sense constantly obsessing over it.

I’m not obsessing over it. He asked what’s not to worry about and I answered having an OC that hasn’t ran his offense in years and he wasn’t very good then is a cause of worry.

With two historic losses none of his predecessors had.

So repeating mistakes, like we've been saying.

He has brought in a q.b.
He also tried this after his first season at Ole Miss. Hopefully Burrow is a good one.

recruiting at high level
That was his biggest selling point in getting the job. You know why? Because he actually has a track record of being a great recruiter. So he doesn't get extra credit for doing what was expected of him here.

If you are running a business, would you rather work with someone you get along with or someone who is a problem to work with? Save your spiel about the best candidate because I'm well aware of what Orgeron has said.

MOST people who succeed at what they do have failed before,
Others, have never attempted anything of worth.
Out of the 121 years that we have tracked College football NCs, only one coach has started off their career (first 3 years) worse than O, and went on to win an NC....which is our goal for him correct?
In college coaching, you can go from horrible to decent, or bad to good, or good to elite.
But no one goes from Horrible to Elite. It would be historic. Is that what you are betting on?

Sorry but O broke his promise and hired a yes man

What if Orgeron feels that is Ensminger? If Ensminger doesn't work out, Orgeron will be fired.

How is Ensminger a yes man? By all accounts, Orgeron doesn't want to be involved in the offense.

quote:this is my point too (although DiNardo did quite well until he allowed Lou Tepper to drag him down).
Were you proud when Curley Hallman or Dinardo were hired?
I support the LSU football program. I don't have to support clearly bad coaches, as Hallman was.
Just because a guy wears p&g doesn't mean he's a great coach and deserves our full backing. Johnny Jones is a great recent example.
All that being said, I truly hope we go 15-0 or at least are seriously in the hunt for the West.

If I want the business to succeed I hire the best person I can for the job. I'll find a way to make it work if he has a difficult personality, or at least until I can find someone just as capable with an easier personality to work with.
I have enough friends, I don't need them at work.

obsessing
This was more directed at the notion that Orgeron was an awful hire.

he wasn’t very good then
He was pretty good at Georgia. Garrison Hearst said that when he got to the 49ers, he was amazed that a lot of what they were running was stuff he ran under Ensminger.
Anyway...ever seen the movie Cocoon?
