I’m betting someone else gets a chance at SS in the midweek game this week…

The camera went to CJJ when the error was made a SS today, you could tell he was upset.

Agree. Sitting a little will probably help clear his head. I don’t recall him having errors like that last year.

If Jay is the coach we pray he is, then sitting JT for a few games has to be the right call.

I think the last time he benched JT, his replacement committed two errors in 4 chances.

JT has been bad, but the problem has been endemic.

Its just really hard to understand or imagine how TF a blue blood CBB team like LSU doesn’t have a quality or even above average SS on the ENTIRE TEAM???

Wonder if JT makes all the plays in practice & its just in the games that he boots almost everything thats hit towards him or does he struggle like that at practice/scrimmages?

That DP ball that JT booted is about as easy of a play as a SEC SS can hope for & he just completely clusterfuked it to the point of not even getting the lead runner at 2nd base for god sake!!

Jack Merrifield deserves a chance.... all he needs to do is make the routine plays.

But when given the chance he’s failed to. Same with Cranford. Hope Romero makes it to campus

I wouldn’t be surprised to Leto trot out there for UNO. You don’t lose much at the plate and you add a LH. If you replace him, might as well throw another freshman out there and get them some good experience.

Sooooo are you saying the former 5* SS and Michigan’s Mr Baseball isn’t capable of fielding routine ground balls?
I’m saying he isn’t capable of playing SS.

Cause if not, then I (and a shite load of MLB teams) must sorely mistake about the kids abilities.
He was no longer projected as a SS which was one of the reasons his draft stock plummeted, so yes, you are sorely mistaken but a shite load of MLB teams aren’t.

He even could take his time. The ball got to him quickly without being hot, and he had a very short throw to second. He could have played that very carefully, secured the ball, then thrown to second, and they would have still had the guy at first. He is pressing. No doubt about it.

Doesnt matter at this point. If you want to be better moving forward, give the kid a reset then plug him back in. Put Doughty back at SS, and then plug 2nd. Just do something.

Point is, it doesnt seem like JT is making any improvements. Last resort is to sit him a game or 2 and hopefully clear the cobwebs. If that doesnt work, then we live with it, but you have to try something.

Yes, unless I missed it his only appearances this season have been at DH and 1B. Not sure if he got a look there in the Fall or not but it was pretty clear from seeing video of his later high school years he had outgrown the position and didn’t have the required agility to play there. If he was an option there we would have seen it somewhere around the time Doughty and Cranford had their chances.
