Of course he should tell the truth. Nobody wants federal perjury charges hanging over their head. That’s why, if he cheated—and let’s be honest, we all know he did(whether we care or not)—and he he is either called or just deposed and finds himself under oath, he has boxed himself in a corner where he cannot come out unscathed one way or the other.
He’s in a really bad spot right now. He’s trying to save his $9 million guaranteed, his professional careeer which has barely just begun and hopefully has another 25-30 years left, and himself from potentially going to jail for perjury.
The only “good” outcome for him is to not get called. We’ll see. Maybe he can make a strong arse offer to Dawkins to plea before he he would have to testify.

The protests and whatnot are a bit ridiculous. I get it, everyone cheats. But Wade was caught red handed and it wasn’t some sting operation by the NCAA. It was the fbi trying to catch Dawkins. Wade was dumb and spoke to this individual personally.
Alleva certainly has a history of being reactionary, and this is no different.

No, because if the NCAA lays the hammer then it doesn’t matter anyways. The entire season will be vacated. So might as well play and let the man coach until it all plays out.
But protests? Protests are meant for injustices. It was dumb to suspend Wade and Smart, but it wasn’t an injustice. Wade clearly paid for the kid to come to LSU.

As I’ve said, Alleva shouldn’t have suspended him. But I think it’s pretty obvious at this point. I’m perfectly fine with paying for players and want someone willing to get their hands dirty.
But if get caught then that’s that. Risk and reward. Be smarter, don’t talk on the phone.

Who besides Sean Miller and Wade were recorded by the fbi talking to Dawkins? I know other schools were listed but I haven’t seen where they were actually recorded. KU assistant is another I guess and he’s been fired.

If the definition of cheat is to act dishonestly in order to gain an advantage in a game, and if the unspoken rules of the game that every body abides to is to engage in the exact same behavior that WW engaged in, did he really gain any advantage?
Maybe a moral equivocation and not a defense, but I don't see it as cheating as much as it is that he got caught breaking the official rules.

The fbi has 4,000 minutes of tape. All taken in a 2 month span. I am not sure who all is involved but apparentloy 30-40 schools.
The thing is Dawkins can't be the only middle man out there. Wouldn't Nike have them also?
