2019 Championship never happens without Coach O!

1. He want and got Joe Borrow
2. He went and got the top ranked Place kicker in the Nation
3. He got Joe Brady from the Saints

That 2019 Championship doesn't happen without Coach O getting those guys

So Stay in your Lane about Coach O in 2019.

If we never hire O we never have 2019

End of discussion

If you enjoy the current timeline we had where we got to enjoy 2019 you also have to take everything that led up to it (keeping Les after he had gone stale) and everything that happened after it (O completely checking out to chase pussy)

2019 was the greatest season that ever happened to any team and the greatest season that will EVER happen

It is time we just enjoy that fact but realize all we can do is grow and move on from our current state

No, that’s an opinion.

It’s an opinion I happen to agree with, but words have meaning.

exactly.
there is. o way to know what someone else does or doesn’t do here.

Maybe Herman also goes get Burrow (or a different QB that delivers) and wins a Natty

maybe if we hire someone else they flame out and produce nothing.
and were still right here searching.

We could have still won a championship and maybe even another since then.

Stupidity. You cannot go back that far and say that, too many things clicked to make 2019 happen. There’s no way to know what would have happened good or bad.

We've made a bunch of mistakes over the years.
- Not hiring Spurrier after '86. To be fair, Spurrier was young but he wanted the job and we can only dream of what he would've done with Hodson, Davis, MaGee, Moss, Kinchen in '87 and on.

- Not hiring Spurrier or Urban in '05. I don't think the timing would've worked since Spurrier was already hired by USCe before Les and Urban by UF.

- Hiring Joe "I am the search" Alleva as AD.
- Not firing Les after '15. It was time. Fans had Les-fatigue. He brought it on himself. Which was all frustrating because Les did so much so well as a HC. Had he only utilized the great talent he recruited on offense, he would literally be an all-time great HC.

- Hiring O. Give'm full credit for '19 and that's it. He was a lazy, low-character, immature coach and who's to say another coach wouldn't have already won multiple nattiys?

- Hiring BK. Just my opinion, but after O was fired I suspect SW still felt the failure of Jimbo in Aggieland and O here. So rather than hire the coach with the best trajectory, he felt he had to made a 'big-splash hire.' And BK has demonstrated long before the Underwood defection that he does not know how to manage a roster in this era nor an SEC schedule.

Then why do you say it is "stupidity" to suggest someone else could've won more natty's from '17 - now?

They tried to get Jimbo Fisher in 2015. Can’t imagine that would have worked out well anyway tbh.

No . It was O going after recruits ( can you imagine personally calling teenagers for several hours a day , 7 days a week ? ) and brilliant Aranda getting to the football operations building at 5 am daily with the linebacker Devin White coaching him up . And Joe Brady communicating with mature postgrad Burrow , who became a film junkie . Closest thing to a pro team IMHO .

Brady had an overrated part but he was still a part. Ensminger is the one who called plays and designed the offense with input from Brady. I'm not saying Brady was bad, but Steve was the leader of the offense.
utter nonsense.

Ensminger had all the talent on his 2018 offense and did little with it.

Only when Brady came in 2019 was that talent unleashed.

Brady was the difference in 2019.

I don’t understand what you mean by “ young coach with proven ability to win a natty .” It takes an organization to win a natty . Orgeron was a great D- line coach and master recruiter , Aranda was an extremely hard working defense coach , Joe Brady was an offense innovator from Payton’s school . It wasn’t one guy who magically did it . Burrow is highly intelligent and was a film junkie and highly motivated . lightning in a bottle .

Yeah it looks like BK can’t get it done. But like someone said, coaching hires are a crapshoot and BK was, on paper, an absolute home run. Just because it isn’t working out, doesn’t make that false.

I think it’s early to make that pronouncement, but even if it turns out to be true, the idea that there were obviously better candidates available at that moment in time is laughable (and I know that’s what you are saying as well). Riley has done worse. Napier has done worse. Jimbo got fired. Swinney has gone backwards. Some guys have emerged since like DeBoer (though I’d say the jury is still out on him too). The only guy in hindsight who might even have been on the radar is Lanning and that would have been a huge gamble. Even now, there aren’t a lot of guys I would say are obviously better than Kelly and none are realistically available.
