It's UF. You tell him to sit.

Want to play next year? should have transferred out of conference.

yup. Even an eastern opponent that we don’t play would be fine. On our schedule every year? Have a seat.

Dan Mullen seems to be a dick and doubtful he would do LSU any favors if the tables were turned. That being said I would have to look to see how Mullen has handled any transfers out of his program if there are any comparable situations there. In nothing to go on, and just being that it is Florida, who have also as a school been dicks to LSU, and Dan Mullen, well known to be a dick, then hell no.

Depends on how much tampering Florida did. We know they cheat. This would be more about Mullen and Florida than Gilbert.

Competition wise I want to play him as few times as possible so why would I want him to play?

Let him play and then push his shite in when we play them.

LSU could be on the other end of this situation and it would be nice to have our guy play as soon as possible. This transfer business isn't going away anytime soon.

I might consider what Gilbert would do for me if the roles were reversed. Then tell him he can sit.

I would forget about Gilbert. We don't know the demons the young man was fighting in his head.
Wish him the best and look toward the future. His leaving will no affect our future.
We need team mates that are teammates that can depend on each other.
We have Tight Ends . They may not have his pass catching ability but they compensate with better blocking and attitude.

Exactly. It isn’t about how it affects Gilbert. You want him to sit because you want every possible competitive edge against Florida. Forget about people’s feelings, it’s about winning.

I doubt it has any influence on the recruiting trail. Most of these kids commit thinking it's where they'll play 3-4 years.

you set a terrible precedent if you let him play. He should sit. Thats the rule. You will have a line of backups trying to transfer if they think they can leave and play next year somewhere else.

Disagree. It is not being petty. These kids need to know that there are penalties for leaving a school which has invested a scholarship and time in them. In addition, it tells other coaches that they cannot poach kids from other schools to fill their immediate needs. Such as one Dan Mullen.

Fuk no. Precedent needs to be set. These kids need to learn about consequences

Circumstances matter and I don't know the circumstances. That said, Coach O certainly didn't seem to have his usual touch with the players this year. I think Gilbert's decision was one of those where we heard the all too often 'well, he hasn't spoken to me about it'...

I say play no hard feelings plus we get the Tennessee LB . No conference stipulations everything wide open it’s all good .

frick all of this. You fight to keep him off the field for a year and to ensure that the SEC absolutely allows no one-time waivers or exceptions of any kind between conference schools. You want to go to another SEC school, you sit on your arse for a season just like in the past.

If it was left up to us, which I doubt it ultimately is, there's no way I'd vouch for him to be eligible right away.

Under the current NCAA waiver rules (which may be able to change), the player AND his former school have to certify that there was no tampering. There were rumors of UT and UGA reaching out to Gilbert
before he was in the portal and he conveniently opted out the week we played UF. Even if we don’t have proof, there’s probably enough to make it a fight and gum up the works.

This actually doesn’t matter unless the SEC changes its rules. Right now, they aren’t allowing waivers and Gilbert has to sit out. I’m really hoping they don’t change, no matter what the NCAA does.
