As I've said before, he a right handed hitting Joey Gallo...NOT a compliment.

Joey Gallo could play CF, has 2 gold gloves and made 2 all star teams.

Double Oh being a genius in the Portal Thread

It was pretty obvious by this point, Frey was going to be our first position player taken.

Did you say, “Joey Gallo?” Joey Gallo’s dead.

Which is why I didn't criticize Jones' 1B play. They play different positions but each is/was pretty good in the field. Another poster claimed Joey Gallo was dead...only in the professional sense!

Pitchers who could hit the low and away zone did him in. Especially with sliders. He kept his stance, his load and never adjusted. I think he’ll figure it out. He’ll have to.

As I said a few weeks ago, there are some classic "tries" to help him. 1) if he can, move up in the batter's box so that the last movement of the slider doesn't hurt him 2) move towards the plate in the box if he can to get closer to that outside corner pitch 3) for God's sake, level out your swing so the bat is in the path of the ball of a longer time. Once again, Jones and Gallo hit the same rainmaker type of HRs because they have extreme uppercut swings.

CJJ's staff is comprised of some of the best "coaches" in college baseball. Do you really think his hitting coach, plus he himself, didn't know how to adjust his hitting approach? CJJ specifically said he worked with Jones for hrs during the Fall & season.

I kept saying " if". However, his swing never improved as far as his uppercut goes, and they need to work with him a lot more IF he can be improved. 9 strikeouts total in 3 consecutive games in the CWS including a platinum sombrero is unbelievable!

It’s just an awful comparison and to say it’s not a compliment to compare someone to Joey gallo is way off. If teams thought jones could become gallo, he’d been taken yesterday. That’s not to say jones won’t have a solid career but Joey Gallo has 200 HRs and was a plus defender at 4 different positions.

This has already been addressed. You're an idiot because you can't read something and learn from it.

You're also an idiot because you can't pick up on a reference to a 30 year old movie.

Also, you don't know dick about hitting.

You never said anything worth reading. Don't give a about whatever 30 year old movie I never probably even saw. And obviously, I know a hell of a lot more about hitting than you do! Go and find you a copy of "Baseball for Idiots", buy it, read it...and psst, don't just look at the pictures. You are truly one of the most clueless posters on this forum! God, this board needs an IGNORE feature to filter out the imbeciles like yourself.

It's kind of amazing how willing you are to keep broadcasting your stupidity. And how proud of it you are.

Once again, I never criticized either player's defense. But I assume you accidentally left out Gallo's career batting average.....below the Mendoza line at .194. As far as playing for a bunch of teams, my brother and I always were amazed that even though he was a HUGE LIABILITY at the plate, teams were stupid enough to sign him...the Yankees...the Dodgers...the Twins....the Nationals...the White Sox...the Rangers of course as his first team.

Once again, go down to your mother's basement and see if you can come up with a coherent post. Oh, and BTW, when you talked about Louisiana homes not having basements, it MIGHT have been a valid point if you lived in Louisiana. Oh, and when you buy the "Baseball for Idiots" book, ask them for a map of the United States. What a uneducated buffoon!

Apparently SS is a huge need in this years draft.

With the way the minor leagues work, teams don't typically draft based on "NEEDS" like you see in the NFL and NBA drafts. Typically the MLB draft is a "best available" style draft. Teams select short stops, because... especially in high school... that is the position that most of the best athletes play.

Like someone else already said, take the best athlete and move them to a position where you can develop them and project them to be most likely to help your big league squad in 5 years.

If teams thought jones could hit 40 HR and drive in 100 RBI, he would’ve been taken yesterday. You’re fixating on Gallo’s career average which, if he could hit .194 today, he’d still be playing. Gallo has insane power that and his ability to play so many positions is why teams kept picking him up. Few people in the history of the game can hit a ball as far as Joey Gallo can.

Bear was one of our worse batters on the back end of the season. Yes, he had some major clutch hits but overall he struck out way too much. His timely hitting made up for his awful at bats so many people forget about.

You do realize that definition is the quintessential MLB hitter for Baseball in 2025?
