Then you are saying that the LSU vs Alabama loser will be out. Not only that, but the TN and TX games are also loser stays home for the playoffs.

Right now, it looks like UGA may be the only team in the SEC with under 3 losses, although UK has a very favorable schedule.

The SEC is brutal and asking LSU/AL/TX/UK/OM/OK/MO to go through the remaining schedule with no losses is tough. Considering they all have 4 converence games left, ending up with one team with less than 3 losses seems more likely than not.

How many teams would get in with 3 losses if the SEC ends up with UGA with 2 losses and 3-4 teams tied for second with 3 losses?

What would you say if a team finishes 2nd in the SEC with three lossed because they win a 3 team tiebreaker, and then miss the playoffs because they lose the SECCG?

With a 9 game SEC schedule we must have a 24 team playoff. Either take away the 9 team SeC schedule or be happy with 24 team playoff.

There’s almost a zero percent chance a 9-3 SEC doesn’t make the playoffs just based on math and who plays who.

Or they could just fix the ranking system and quit weighing losses so heavily and worry more about who you beat. That would improve scheduling too

I think there will be only 1 team from the ACC, and Big 12, each, and at most 1 G6 team. ND may get eliminated if Miami spanks them.

That'd leave 8-9 slots for SEC and B1G.

SEC could get 4 or even 5.

No they won't. They just moved up in the coaches poll despite BYU losing. There is no argument that they should be ranked ahead of UCLA, Kentucky, and BYU. And you could really make a case that they should be behind alabama, texas, and ole miss

Hate to it but I think a either a 16 or 32 team playoff is inevitable. It eliminates the first-round byes while keeping the playoff season the same length as one with either a 12 or 24 team field.

One scenario adds 4 teams, the other 8. That way all teams that actually deserve a shot get in. It will still include a few of the "James Madison's" but I think that is acceptable to make sure all the elite teams also make it in.

Apparently, you think strength of schedule is appropriately considered in making these decisions?

You think Miami, Utah, Notre Dame, UCLA, BYU, Texas Tech, Wake Forest, or SMU would have their current W-L records if they were playing in the SEC? Of course they wouldn't!

But every one of them are ranked ahead of a two loss Tennessee team. As with the polls, the playoff committee has shown no major deference to strength of schedule in the past.

That is why Sankey was a complete effing moron for pushing a 9-game conference schedule prior to a 24-team playoff.

We were the only 2 loss team to win a natty in 2007 which was a crazy year with upsets like this year
We will be the first 3 loss team to win a natty

I think he figured that the top teams would end up in, regardless in a 12 team tournament.

I remember people arguing that teams the did not qualify for the 4 team BCS tournament would have had zero shot at winning the tournament, anyway. This year, I believe a team will be left out that could conceivably win it all in a tournament. A three loss Alabama, LSU, Tennessee, or Ole Miss very well may get left out of the field.

Really depends on who the other 3 loss teams are. If it’s OM and Kentucky , we are probably odd man out !

I dont know what the love for Ga is all about. They played an easy schedule early on then were gifted an Alabama win against a bama team that isn't that good it appears....and then lost to Auburn.
