quote]Well obviously it guarantees a natty according to many on this site.[/quote]
See, this is what you anti Wade folks don’t get. No, it doesn’t guarantee a natty and none of us who want him back think it does. What it does guarantee is immediate lifeblood and excitement into the program. What it does guarantee is that almost immediately our Men’s BBall program becomes fun and entertaining again. It means we become competitive again. It means we start going to the Dance again on a regular basis and with a coach who could potentially win a natty unlike the current coach who never will. And how do I know this, because he has already proven once that he can while the current coach has proven he can’t.
Are there other coaches out there that could be very successful here. Absolutely, and if WW doesn’t come back, I hope we get one of them.

For me the expectations are not going to be that great, as I don’t think he’s all that good.but leaps and bounds better than MM.

I’ve come to the realization that we are stuck with MM for one more year.

I can’t say with certainty that we are or are not. The behavior of the AD is much different this year v last. By sweet 16 time last year, he had already been told that LSU had not supported McMahon enough and that NIL would be increased and he would be back to coach again.
This year, Verge previously stated making the tournament was the floor expectation. Since the disastrous end to the season, same as year before, the AD has stated nothing.
LSU has been very silent as has NCSt and Wade. If McMahon is your guy, you act like LSU AD acted last year considering there has been no public vote of confidence or signal for future direction of program with the portal opening in a few weeks.
McMahon very well could return for what I expect would be another uninspiring season that is everyone else’s fault but his according to some, but I don’t think it’s guaranteed based on significantly different behavior from the AD.

I’m just mentally preparing myself for McMahon being here the rest of his contract (which means 3 more miserable years). If any move is made before that, I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Of course if this loser is brought back next year, I’ll be finished following this team so I’ll just have to disconnect and wait it out I suppose.
Every excuse is made for this failure and we have an athletic department that seems to be afraid of tackling this broken program. It’s a bad combo.

We haven’t even fired our current basketball coach, I have zero faith that anything changes

I expectation would be that he would be shite canned within two years.

It was well before the Sweet 16. It was in February when LSU was 2-10 in SEC play. All objective evidence suggested a HC change was needed, so the AD felt compelled to provide an excuse because the decision had already been made to retain him. A year later, here we are...again.
But like you said. The silence is odd. Other schools/ADs have either fired or come out in support of their HC on the hotseat...except LSU.

NC State doesn't really have to say anything. However, if you are LSU and McMahon is your guy, it seems to be poor practice by the AD to just let him sit out there with public speculation that he may or may not return. Either voice support in your HC or get rid of him.

Wouldn’t mind the same trajectory as last time, although this time he’ll be able to do a lot more roster turnover in year 1.
If we go from absolute joke to legit NIT with some exciting upsets and clear progression along the way i’ll be happy.

Well if we go by their logic losing Charles Manning, Taylor, O’Neal, Sims, Edwards and Johnson cost us at least one more

Why do you pretend to be an LSU fan?

More than 5 SEC wins in two f’n years. This program can’t really get any lower. 3 SEC teams are in the Sweet 16, LSU had 3 SEC wins this season in totality.
All this bitching for a little more than we've been getting? Wade is supposed to be elite according to many on here. So even with the same resources and talent, he should be finishing top 5 in the conference every year or else its a waste of money. Many on here say it's much easier to get to the top of the SEC than the ACC, so let's see it.
The Wade fans have made the expectations unreasonable.

You don’t get to make excuses for the worst tenure in program history then turn around and make “elite” demands of anyone else. Let the actual fans do that, we’ve been consistent, you guys are anything but.

This is what 10 or 11 wins? Yea he should be able to do that more time than not.
In a 10 year span we should be making the tournament 8 times, and having 2 or so top tier teams. The way it sets up now its easier than ever for an SEC team to make the NCAA tournament.

You are proving my point for me, I actually can do that based on your lack of perspective for McMahon.
If you(or whoever) hold him in such high regards and justify having an obsession by saying he's the most successful coach LSU has ever had, etc. etc. Then he is expected to meet those expectations you set because of what y'all have built him to be, not what people who don't want him here think. You/y'all can't talk all this shite about how great he is(not wanting to be mediocre etc.) and then turn around and give him "reasonable" expectations when a lot of you tried to use first year coaches successes as a reason why McMahon should have it. Doesn't work that way. You can't all of the sudden start having perspective just because the guy you want is in there. Either have it, or not at all.

We ridin to a NCAA NC by 2030. Will Wade was NIL before NIL was cool. He knows how to make the strong arse offers.

WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE COMING FROM
Posted on 3/24/26 at 2:05 pm to JWill409
That’s not only a deflection it’s a total misrepresentation of what I’ve said and my “perspective” on McMahon or Wade. Making straw men and twisting a total collapse of the program into yet another excuse is exactly why someone like you can’t be taken seriously. My expectations have always been the same, make the tourney every year because that’s how you build a lasting winner and elevate the program.
