If we had a 12-team playoff this year, Tulane would be in right now and LSU would be out

That’s a pretty sad state of affairs. Time for LSU to restore order and dominate Louisiana again.

I honestly would love to have Tulane’s defense this year. They stopped the Ole Miss offense way better than we did.

I’m assuming he’s thinking the AAC gets an auto bid.
I would hope the committee would select those with a better resumè.

LSU would be right on the edge of making the top 12 at 10-2 this year.

There's little benefit moving forward for difficult non-conference match-ups. Reference: UGA, Michigan.

It’s really not. Let LSU play that schedule

Highest ranked G5 champion. Which.. OK, I guess. But it’s a little silly to use as a comparison point considering LSU doesn’t play in a G5 conference.

The 6 highest ranked conference champions get automatic bids, which effectively means the G5 conferences are guaranteed at least one spot.

The other 6 spots go to the next 6 highest ranked teams (regardless of whether they win their conference championships).

The 6 highest-ranked conference champions get into the playoff automatically. Next year there will only be 4 Power conferences.

2 spots. The Power 5 is becoming the Power 4 next year.

What? They would be in. they would have beaten Bama and made it to the SECCG with one conference loss with a 10-2 record.

A 12 team playoff should automatically take the two SECCG teams. Regardless of records. The SEC will probably get 3, maybe 4 in on a 12 team playoff.

Fair point. I forgot about the PAC 12 clusterfrick.

Although I do wonder if the “PAC 2” champion would be eligible based on that criteria.

The conference championship games are going away soon, so this will be a non-issue.

They no longer add any value with a 12-team playoff. All the conference championship games will do is risk knocking one of the conference’s teams out of the playoff.

A report came out tonight that they were moving to the 5+7 model with the PAC12 basically going away. Not sure if it’s official but I would imagine that will happen.

Slowly turning into a semi-pro league for the NFL. This would be the final dagger.
Making the conferences irrelevant.

Yea kinda the point of crowning the champion and who should go to a playoff.

I was a BCS fan, now I think 4 is plenty, would even suck it up for 6, but 12 is just the end of college football.

LSU is not a very good team. I have no idea about Tulane and I don’t care

You’ll still have conference champions. However, you might have co-champions like in the past. Both champions will go to the playoff.
