Under normal circumstances, yes. This is not a normal situation and the entire world is focused on it.

When I-85 collapsed in Atlanta they said it would take six months to be repaired and would be shut down. Since it was such a major point of emphasis for the city they got it up & running in a month.

Normal timelines often don't apply for elevated situations.

What is your plan when they are forced to alter things?

You're ignorant. This is not the same thing. Vaccines take awhile to clinically pass for a reason. You can't rush them as they're going to be in mass consumption by the general public. Do you know how many millions you put at risk rushing a vaccine? They're extremely dangerous in early clinical trials. In general, it's EXTREMELY rare for someone to have serious adverse reactions to a vaccine but a rushed vaccine like this could be disastrous.

And ffs, we definitely don't need more ignorant anti-vax people running around with fuel to say how dangerous vaccines are when it's actually anti-vax people who put the population at risk. They're not going to push them out early unless you volunteer to take trials for them. Good luck with that. They already have their test subjects for the vaccine and obviously the military.

At the end of April, the stay at home order will be lifted everywhere.

That gives each college team 3 months minimum to prepare for camp. It would not be out of the question that the NCAA would make a one time allowance for early camps (perhaps mid July).

The entire NCAA football season will be played
The entire NFL season will be played
The NBA season will resume
The Masters will be played

The only way I see them being able to play:

-cancel all OOC games

-cancel all bowl games except the playoff

-make a 1 year exception for an 8 or 16 team playoff

-push back conference schedule into December & play all games in consecutive weeks leading up until playoff. No bye weeks

LSU’s schedule could look something like this.

Aug 24 (1st day of school) would start a condensed 5week conditioning program leading up to...

Oct 1st preseason practice

Oct 31 OM
Nov 7 FL
Nov 14 Ark
Nov 21 Miss St
Nov 28 Bama
Dec 5 SC
Dec 12 Aub
Dec 19 A&M

Dec 26th conf championship games
January 2nd Semi playoff
January 11th CFB champ

If you go to 8 or 16, you push these down into late January

Way too early for this kind of talk. The only way this would make sense would be if it eats into fall practice.

Why would this be logical otherwise?

Agree it shouldn't be rushed and I definitely understand there's a lengthy process in place, but my point is that everyone is focused on this and while in normal circumstances medical resources are spanned across numerous treatments for various diseases, the severity of this virus on the global scale has a larger volume of resources being allocated to find a vaccine and should hopefully expedite the process. I believe a complete genome sequence for it has already been isolated, which from my understanding is a big first step.

Way to dodge the question.

If things aren't cleared up by practice in August, of course something will have to be done.

However, as long as they can report and have a full pre-season practice, there is no reason for anything to change.

They won't. We will play football this season. This shite will run its course by then and we will be back to normal. China is already setting dates for their basketball league to resume play. This shite won't last much longer.

China is already back to 95% production in manufacturing. The virus has not affected the countries where it is warm. A Nobel prize winning expert on viruses successfully predicted this thing would have a very quick spike with an equally quick drop in affected people. As it warms up, this thing will die out very quickly. China is already past the dangerous stages of it. The United States is doing what they need to do as well. This thing won’t be hampering anyone way into the fall.

You’re a fool. Vaccines take a certain amount of time for clinical trials to be done. Doesn’t matter how much money or resources are used.

Nearly one-fifth of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletic directors believe there is at least a 50 percent chance a full college football season won’t be played this fall because of the impact of COVID-19.

quote:

In a survey conducted by Stadium, all 130 FBS athletic directors were asked to rank their optimism on the upcoming season being played from “1” (will not be played) to “10” (definitely will be played). Of the 130 ADs contacted during the past week, 112 participated in the anonymous survey.

None of the ADs gave lower than a “5” ranking (meaning a 50/50 chance there is no season). However, several admitted they probably provided a higher-numbered response because they wanted to remain positive and optimistic about having the season.

“I’m optimistic we’ll have a season,” a Power Five AD said. “But, ask me again in May what I think.”

The most popular response was a “7” ranking from 27 percent of the ADs, followed by an “8” ranking from 24 percent and a “5” ranking from 18 percent of the ADs.

Overall, Power Five conference ADs were less optimistic than their Group of Five conference counterparts in believing that a complete season would be played this fall, with 26 percent of the Power Five ADs giving a “5” ranking, compared to only 12 percent of the non-Power Five ADs. Two-thirds — 66 percent — of the Power Five ADs gave a “7” or lower ranking, compared to only 37 percent of the Group of Five ADs.

They are making predictions for the future on a sliding scale.

Your post said "the only way" there will be a season.

Big difference.

If you would've said there's a good chance that would happen, it's a different thought entirely.

Me. Myself. My opinion.

Play the games in empty venues without fan attendance.

It would suck, but the money is in the TV contracts. I don't think the power conferences would oppose if it were the only option.

FBS subdivision would be shite out of luck.
