If money is an issue, Texas A&M wins over LSU
I don’t agree with this, first of all the school endowment is not part of the athletic budget. A&M might offer an obscene contract but it won’t be literally more money than LSU has for a baseball coach

And what is "fake money" when the Aggie school endowment is $20 to LSU's less than $1 billion?
Fake money is losers like you touting A&M’s endowment over and over when that has nothing to do with athletic department spending, NIL availability, etc. The reality of their endowment is that their grads obsessively donate to it because Texas has a huge endowment and it’s an ultimate lil bro penis envy move. How many LSU grads, or any other SEC school for that matter, do you know that donate to a fricking endowment fund of all things?
There’s no evidence anywhere that A&M has significantly more “money” on the streets than any other SEC school. I mean they’re located in Texas and the state of Texas generally has higher salaries than most in the southeast, but their grads don’t even have the highest income in the SEC, behind Vandy and Texas at the least and possibly Florida as well. Again, cultishly and collectively donating to an endowment fund in an attempt to keep up with Texas =/= rich.
So you tell me: if A&M actually has as much money as their fans and grads desperately try to convince everyone on the internet, then why haven’t they ever done anything relevant in sports?

Jay doesn’t care about the stadium upgrades we want… nor should he. I’m sure he has things that he wants but that is going to be for the players/coaches and their training.

He probably doesn’t care about stadium upgrades. He cares about NIL and facilities that help the players.

doesn’t matter how much money ATM throws at JJ or anyone else. Similar to football where three natties have been won over the past 20 years with three different coaches, LSU gives any coach the best chance at winning a baseball natty. developing a championship pedigree from absolutely nothing other than a pile of cash is a huge risk with zero guaranteed.
You could send Saban to ATM, or Jay Johnson. But ATM’s culture is one of mediocrity. They make some noise on occasion but they simply don’t have the organization “stones” to develop any sort of dynasty and likely never will. They’ve never really had sustained success in anything. I kinda feel for them at times but for lack of a better description, it’s a losing culture and IMHO impossible to overcome.

CJJ makes life changing money now. With some guys it's not all about the money.
Base Salary: $1.65 million per year.
Incentive Package: Up to $460,000 per year.
National Title Bonus: $200,000.
College World Series Berth Bonus: $75,000.
Original Contract: A five-year, $6.5 million deal signed in 2021.
Contract Extension: The seven-year extension keeps him at LSU through the 2030 season.

That’s not actually what “fake money” means. You are using “fake” as a way to describe something you don’t like.

Donations are (a smaller) part of the overall endowment but the larger one is the PUF (permanent university fund) was established by the legislature in the 1870s and set aside land that includes oil and gas leases. The only you are correct on is the endowment has nothing to do with Athletic Department budgets/spending.

They don’t just donate to the “endowment”. it is the largest enrollment in the SEC and yes they do have a lot of wealthy alumni that donate/spend on athletics.

Simply having and spending money doesn’t automatically lead to winning otherwise the Mets would have won multiple World Series since 1986
If it was just about having money Stanford would crush everyone, at least until Harvard moved up to D1

What was LSUs football culture before Saban? The baseball culture didn’t even exist before Skip. Schloss did have them in the CWS finals a year ago. To say they couldn’t possibly win is just silly. Doesn’t mean they can just hire whoever they want however. For baseball the best option would be someone like Schloss, winning an a “lower” tier school or an assistant from a good program (think Tennessee hiring Tony Vitello )

Lol why would you leave LSU? Wtf?
Posted on 6/26/25 at 8:57 am to Htxtiger17
If I were JJ, instead of a huge raise, I would ask for a system be setup to have more NIL money available for him instead of a big bump in personal salary. That way he has more $ to attract players and keep winning natties. He stays and keeps winning, he is set for life in BR regardless of his base salary.

Coach has said, several times, that he wouldn't leave LSU for either the Yankees or the Dodgers. Both could offer a lot more money than any college baseball program.

CJJ is retiring from LSU one day. I really do believe that.
