Harold could run circles around the fat arse Alabama left tackle. Proctor is a true freshman and he’s not ready yet. He’s fat and he’s slow and he can’t handle stunts. This needs to be exploited.

And what happens when Alabama runs the football right at Perkins?

I've simulated this on NCAA '14 hundreds of time. This will definitely work.

Okay just fyi how we are using Perkins right now at the Sam linebacker is actually very efficient. We cannot just play Perk at the jack and ask him to rush or set the edge every play. He is big enough or suited for that. If he decides thats the route they want to take he needs to add 20-30 pounds in the offseason and develop a few different hand techniques instead of just the ghost move.

He is taking away the strong side flat, rushing the QB, or going into coverage all from the same position. When it’s obvious that he is rushing the QB or spying its easy for opposing offenses to plan around him and make him a non factor as they did early this season.

They’ve finally put him back into position to do what he does best.

But teams are now keying off him, so not as a
Easy as last year.

However, you can use that to your advantage. Have him show blitz every play. Offense will have to account and shift to him. Have him back out at the snap 50% of time and getting other front 7 better matchups to disrupt.

Do you know how many times last year where Perkins got home blitzing off edge?

4. Maybe 4.5. The other sacks were QB spy. EDGE IS NOT HIS GAME.

If thats all it took, Trindon Holliday would be a 12 time nfl pro-bowler by now.

Our defense has been very efficient recently. There isn't much room for improvement with the young CBs and mediocre DL.

One obvious question: do you think if YOU are noticing that Perkins is fast, that Nick Saban hasn’t? You might see Perkins do exactly what you say but it will have to be timed right against a favorable formation. If the Bama O-line plays a zone blocking scheme, like they have been the last few weeks, he will have to go around all of them to get to Milroe. And who will be there when the running back cuts back? It’s just not going to be available but maybe 2 or 3 times all game.

Perkins hasn't been dominant in a game since Arkansas last year. That is an 11 (regular season) game stretch. I think it is safe to say opponents adjusted to what LSU was doing with him last season.

He can't just be an edge rusher like he was much of last season. House has to find a way to move him around an put him in spots to succeed. Honestly, I'm shocked they haven't tried to blitz him up the middle more. That's kind of what LSU did with Devin White until he became comfortable playing inside.

The reality is Perkins is a tweener. He's a bit too small to be either an ILB or OLB. He's really built more like an old-school strong safety. House has to try to situationally move him around because I don't think he has a true position right now.

Good Gosh, somebody quick get on the phone with CBK & House. There is knowledge out here from the Rant coaches that has totally gone right over their head. How can 55years of Coaching not even see this.

Yes and that was a monster game! But he’s had good games since then.

Agreed. Why I said use that to your advantage.

Teams are making their keys off him. So move him around, show blitz and back out / delay blitz / blitz from slot…

He can disrupt the game just as easily by not coming off the edge or blitzing.

This is not the same Alabama rushing attack of old.

I have an Awesome Idea!! How about we leave it up to the 10 million dollar coach who leads the entire country with 300 wins. Yes more than Saban.

Pretty sure he knows where Perkins should play.

If you listen to his last press conference , he stated he was putting Perkins in position to decide to blitz the edge or cover the outside.
