Oh one more thing - we'll be back. Lot of work to do first. Gotta make it to the Rose Bowl and win it, get that big game monkey off our back, go harder for recruits...definitely some work to put in before we take that next step and get on the level of the "elites". But we're gonna be there soon enough.
I can agree with this. Good luck to the Ducks!

if Oregon was in the south they would be in the heartland of football and have recruiting pipelines in the richest, star-laden states.
Two different arguments. If Oregon was in the south, it would not be Oregon.
If your current team, in your current situation, was in the SEC, it would not go so hot for you.

Please tell me more ... If Knight is simply an alumnus/booster, how does he influence the roster?
he paid for most of our state of the art facilities. Jerseys and gear. etc. Trust me nobody would have even picked up Oregon's calls if we still had our pre-nike facilities. some of the worst in the country.

We would have an SEC defense and an SEC o-line that would hold its own in the trenches and our offense wouldn't get stifled like this. It's much harder to recruit those athletes all the way from the Pacific Northwest because kids like to stay close to home.
So, you are saying that if you made your team 100 percent different, you could compete.
Well, stop the presses, that is what you have been told.
You lose to the following SEC West teams, with the team you have now. Miss ST, Bama, LSU, Ark.
You would be in the Indy bowl, as it stands now you will be in Pasadena. Notice a difference?

I'm going to make sure I understand Subby's point. He is saying that if Oregon were located in the South, and recruited SEC talent, and played an SEC schedule, they would be a better team.
In other words, if Oregon were LSU, and LSU were Oregon, they would have kicked our arse.
Can't disagree with that.

quote:Well, close. If Oregon were LSU PLUS Phil Knight's alma mater. Basically, if Oregon combined its advantages with LSU's advantages, they'd be a better team. Daring postulation, I know.

Goddamn Oregon posters are out of their league.
Got that arse whipped, and still bringing hypotheticals up.

But trips to TExas and Oklahoma are just a hop skip and jump away!

Don't forget ducks - the Pac12 has added a championship game - another roadblock for a NC. That should make it more difficult for a team leading in the polls to make it to a BCS NC game.

lol idiot...yeah in the opposite division. How does that compare to flying across the country for every road game you play? Our wings would be hella tired.

Both teams had droped balls, and yes the pass to Peterson was nice, but 3 or 4 shots downfield doesn't make your passing game vertical.

So how does one explain Ole Miss, Vandy, UK, and most of the time Miss St? Those are the teams you would be if you were in the south..

more thoughts - this year's team is vastly weaker than last year at the moment. Lost a lot of talent on the d-line and at linebacker, and lost vets on the o-line. Matthews (yee starting for the Eagles), Bair, Clark, Rowe, Paysinger, Talmadge Jackson, (and Cliff Harris) were all gone from last year's defens
So..LSU is vastly better than last year's Auburn and they stopped you cold. You just need to get over the fact that you'll never be better than us..
Now get the frick out of here with your nonsense
Have a nice day

Imagine how good Boise State would be if they were in the SEC. They have done what do in the WAC in a less populated and more isolated state than Oregon.

So you admit the South has more talented players than the NE?

It goes from how they're gonna kick our arse to excuses.
We beat them with a fricking back up QB. That beats all their excuses.

I think Oregon will be fine. DT did not help Oregon by publicly proclaiming that if they lost this game they had no shot at the MNC. Best thing about Oregon is they lost the first game of the season. As long as everybody else slips up they still have a shot, they just have to take care of business. The squeak in the wheel is Boise. They beat an SEC team (this might not seem that impressive around late October- I think Georgia loses to S.C. this week and then folds the tent) and don't really have anybody else on their schedule that can beat them. TCU maybe but not with that defensive effort last Friday. But the point is Oregon can't worry about everyone else. I feel they will end up being a top 5 team and if you can do that you have a shot. Hell in 07 no one here thought we had a shot after Arkansas but we somehow got in.

Without Nike money, Oregon is nothing.

All of this theoretical stuff matters not... people need to realize that if the Ducks opponents cannot keep up with the speed and tempo they will do just what they did last year to many opponents. LSU had the time and talent this year to handle both the speed and the fast tempo. I was really suprised and impressed with the Tigers open field tackling this year (so far). I do not see a lot of teams the Ducks are going to play that can handle these dimensions very well. Time will tell but I think the Ducks will still do well this year. Most LSU fans will be pulling for them because it makes our schedule look that much better. Good Luck and remember "Fear the Hat!"
