The OF is kinda stacked unless they ask Gio to leave but even then you have Drost and Sanford waiting to take the next steps.

If he does, that’s fantastic. He will have beat out some good players but not everyone is a Crews.

No, I think we should makes outsized predictions based on small samples from lower level summer leagues.

I mean, he has the makings of a very good player and he's absolutely owning that league right now. But we've had guys like Nick Webre and Wes Toups and Mason Doolittle go to summer league before their freshman year and tear it up.

I look at summer stats like MLB spring training stats. If they look good, there is reason for reserved optimism, if they look bad who gives a shite, we don't know what specific things they were working on.

We absolutely could have used an extra (good) OF this past year, so I'm all for having another potentially great option. Players often don't live up to their potential or take longer than you'd like to do so. They also sometimes get hurt.

If you think Gio makes an outfield stacked you are kidding yourself!

Gio was one of our best hitters before he was hurt. He is also our best CF. When I say stacked I mean full. You have Him Dugas and Crews. Not much room for full time starters. Our issue this year was his injury and not choosing to develop anyone during that time.

He’ll probably get drafted, but who knows how high.

My point is Gio batting is Junior College level. His arm from the outfield is high school level. His only major asset is his speed. He would not start on most competitive division 1 programs. Players like him are exactly the reason LSU baseball has fallen off. The other players you mentioned were freshman and have time to develop. I’m sorry if LSU is to get better players like Gio need to be reserve players at best! And saying he was one our best hitters when healthy doesn’t mean too much.

Your point is fricking retarded.

He hit 0.308 this year after dealing with an injury since game 2.

He was our leading hitter at 0.351 last year before the season got cancelled.
quote:

Finished as LSU’s leading hitter in 2020, batting .351 (13-for-37) with two doubles, one triple, four RBI, nine runs and five stolen bases … played in 13 games with 12 starts in center field … batted .471 (8-for-17) during LSU’s five-game win streak to end the season and raised his cumulative batting average from .261 to .351 in the five-game span … 7-for-11 in three-game series vs. UMass Lowell (March 6-8) with two doubles, one triple, three RBI, two stolen bases and five runs scored.
He was one of our better hitters as a freshman hitting 0.275 which is damn respectable for year one.
quote:

Played in 53 games (33 starts), batting .275 (38-for-138) with three doubles, one triple, one homer, 15 RBI, 31 runs and six stolen bases … started 17 games at DH, eight in left field, six in center field and two in right field
His speed absolutely is his best asset and it’s what makes him a good CF not his arm.

Why would Crews enter the transfer portal? Do have sources for this?

You gotta make outlandish predictions so that if they hit you look like a genius bro

Gio is fine if your lineup is loaded but if you can upgrade, you can.
