Several fired coaches would beg to differ. You also mentioned 7 years which is very obviously wrong if you’re conveniently not counting this season (and just as wrong even if you were).

Probably would. He already does well recruiting in the state and would have strong recruiting ties in the larger region.

So Nebraska wouldn’t hire a national champion coach of the year? Are you retarded? Do they allow you to live unassisted?

Texas could and would do worse than Orgeron. I think they’re too good to hire someone like O and they would frick it up again.

Did anybody hire chizik?

The SEC Network. O is almost 60, is owed like $30+ million if fired, and is fricking a hot 28-year-old blonde. He’s not gonna go coach McNeese. “Would any major program hire him as HC” is fricking moot. He’s better here—and now—than he would be any other where and when he would—and could—ever be.

The questions you may want to ask is 1) who would do a better job? and 2) are they available?

And number 2 is quite overlooked. Since I’ve been an LSU fan, we’ve hired:

Mike Archer
Curley Hallman
Gerry Dinardo
Nick Saban
Les Miles
Ed Orgeron

I’ve supported all of them at the time, but ZERO of them were craved by other schools. We had to overpay Saban (per the market) and nobody was beating off to that hire at the time.

And—this is what dumbfricks seem to not understand, their brains are too fricking small—WE’D STILL HAVE TO HIRE ANOTHER frickING COACH. Who, in their motherfricking right minds, would take the LSU head coaching job knowing we’re willing to fire them, not just a season after a national championship, but a season AFTER THE BEST frickING COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON OF ALL frickING TIME?!!!!

Quality of life matters. And it’s really fricking hot and humid to uproot your family to Baton Rouge with that bullshite job security.

Absolutely! 70% percent of being a HC at a major program is recruiting and getting good assistants. The other 30 percent is rubbing elbows with the big boosters, meeting with the fans and being the face of the program. If you can recruit, which O can, and get the right assistants in, then winning will follow. Things are looking down because LSU is losing, but win a few games and have a solid year and the fans will be back patting him on the back and telling him how great he is. We fans are very fickle!

If he was let go after this year no major program would take him a HC, it would be be treated similar to chiz situation. He could potentially swing a DC job though for about 2 years then after getting fired his choices would be either Sec network /gameday guest or D line coach/recruiting coordinator somewhere. He could of course get a McNeese type HC job if he wanted that.

I"m reminded of what someone said years ago about Buddy Diliberto, back in the says before cable TV. "There are only 3 TV stations in America who would hire Buddy Diliberto: WWL, WVUE, and WDSU"

ULM is looking for a coach, but Ensminger seems to be the leader of the pack.
