<------ "LSUbase13. You fricking nitwit. Go whip up a roux, Boucher.

Why the frick are you as a South Carolina fan even commenting on this? It is none of your business. Go lick your wounds from the Miss State game fool!
For the life if me, I will never understand why trolls that are other than LSU fans post in the Rant. To me, the Rant is a LSU fan only forum and anyone pledging allegiance to another other team needs to STFU!

The OP does not state "when" Miles wins out but rather "if" miles wins out. He allowed the reader the option of determining if the variable needed to answer the question was a valid one. I don't believe that variable will exist and be in play at the end of the year.
No, he asked you to accept a hypothetical situation and give your opinion on whether Miles would be retained "if" that scenario occurred. It's not that hard.
Yes, He would be retained unless the game against Bama was such a blowout that it could sway media and public opinion so drastically that firing Miles on the heels of a turnaround leading to a however many game winning streak would seem rational.
Otherwise LSU would come off as a job that a coach would be crazy to take.

you're getting WAY ahead of yourself. We're still not very good.
Let's see how we do against middle-of-the-pack SEC teams (MSU, Auburn, Florida) before we even begin to think about Bama, Ole Miss, Arky, and A&M.

Forget the hypothetical question being posed. The very real answer is that Les Miles will not be the head coach at LSU in 2017. By the time we play Bama even a win will not save him.
There is too much talent on this team to be satisfied with the product we're seeing.
Miles will coach his last game as LSU’s head coach against Texas A&M.

My answer is as it has been, he has to win the SEC and a playoff game.

The idea that Miles could win the SEC and be fired is retarded. I think a 10-2 season with an SEC West co-championship where Bama goes to Atlanta would mean he was back next year.

ummmm this is about hardware not empty wins. please stop with that BS narrative. This isn't the facking 70's or 80's when we had no SECCG and there were not many bowl games like now.

He needs to beat Alabama. McClendon lost his job because of Paul Bryant

It's amazing how many people believe this bullshite. McClendon lost his job because in the five years leading up to the decision, he went 5-5-1, 4-7, 6-4-1, 8-4 and 8-4. He then got to coach one last season after the decision was made, and went 7-5.

Is his job safe? A 2 loss season and ranked top 15 might save his job. Watch and see
Only if Bama loses and we still win the west. Win the West and/or beat Bama is the line that's already drawn.

Watching the opening sequence for NBC's Pats-Cards game, I noticed the pantheon they showed in the opening sequence-six or seven of the NFL's biggest stars. Half of that number was--Patrick Peterson. Tyrann Mathieu. Odell Beckham. Three LSU Tigers.
Doesn't play for either Patriots or Cardinals.

If he keeps his job then I can finally stop having hope that LSU will win a national title.

I'm all for the one game at a time approach. A lot can happen during the course of a football season.
I wouldn't consider anyone a sure bet, at this point.

A loss to Bama and a win in the bowl game will absolutely give him room to control his own destiny. Any of you people who think a 2 loss coach in the SEC West gets fired are clearly delusional.

a win in the bowl game
If he's still around for the bowl game without having been fired, then the decision will have already been made to keep him. A bowl win will have no effect on whether he is still our coach next year.

what if it rains when we play bama and we lose bc of the rain???

No one is getting fired over at 2 loss season.
Posted on 9/12/16 at 11:49 am to CatsGoneWild
I think he will depend heavily on how the team looks too.
The losses last season put him in such a bad spot because of how they lost. Dominated against Bama, and he had no gameplan response.
Even more importantly was how the team looked against Ole Miss and Ark. They looked like the most poorly coached team in the country in those two games.

Is Georgia a joke in college football? They fired Mark Richt after a 10-3 season last year.
Is Alabama a joke in college football? They fired Bill Curry after a 10-2 season in 1989.
A number of others have been fired after 9-win seasons.

Honestly, man. Even if Les did save his job, I don't think he wants it anymore.
I agree with some others are saying here. You can see it in his demeanor that he's done.
