re: If Miles Brennen puts the work in he will be in NYC one year from now

A BIG component of winning the Heisman is the narrative and Burrow was the beneficiary of two major storylines:
1. The implementation of the new LSU offense answered a question that had been asked by national media for years, "What could the caliber of LSU athletes do if they opened up their offense?", AND last year coupled with this year presented a perfect BEFORE and AFTER example.
2. Guy had to transfer to find playing time.
Myles would not have that going for him, even if he had the same statistics or better. The biggest thing is #1. Soon, these statistics will be "expected" of LSU QB's and nothing special.

Man do I feel bad for Miles Brennen.
He could have the second greatest QB season in LSU history, and this board will think him an utter failure.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but let's pump the brakes.
If Brennan can hit on 65 percent with around 30 TDs and 10 or fewer INTs, that will be a pretty good season. With that, LSU should compete for the West/SEC titles, and yet Brennan's numbers will still pale in comparison to what we are seeing this season from Joe.

Brennan has a lot of tools. But he doesn’t have the feet that Joe does and we have yet to see if he has the toughness.

So if Brennan doesn’t become a Heisman finalist next year, it means he didn’t put work in?

I'll root for the kid Brennan to succeed. I wont doom him to failure like many want to. But if it's someone else it's someone else. Whatever is best for LSU.

He’s actually pretty quick but we just haven’t seen enough of him to see if he has Joe’s exceptional pocket awareness skills. The toughness aspect you brought up is crucial. Joe took several licks over the past two seasons that would’ve ended a QB’s day. He popped up like the water boy just had a swig of high quality h2o. Hopefully Brennan has that because the backups next year are going to be incredibly green.

I’m cool just basking in the glow of having a fricking HEISMAN QB at LSU. After damn near a decade of wishing for one...
Oh, you youngsters.

Its obvious that you have never played sports. If Brennan can carry us to another SEC West title it will be a remarkable accomplishment.

There’s a sliver of truth here, but extremely exaggerated. If Myles puts up these numbers, he’s still the front runner for the Heisman. Joe did benefit from low expectations of LSU QBs, but he still would have won regardless.

Mett 1st year vs 2nd
Jamarcus 1st year vs 3rd
Burreaux 1st year vs 2nd
It takes time, but the offense is better suited for greater production, so maybe he’s ready to light it up.

Thanks Fun Sponge. The rest of us will enjoy this all and take it all in and live in the moment, remembering the past, and having optimism for the future.
