Is there any advantage in improving that seed?
Does a 3 national seed have any advantage over the 8 national seed?

I'm your opinion

LSU is a lock for a National seed. Not sure if they can move above the 6 seed.

You want to avoid having the #4,5 and 8 seed. Oregon St is going to be a tough out in Omaha.

#2, 3, 6 and 7 seeds will likely be UNC/Louisville, Florida & one of the Texas schools if not LSU as a 6 or 7

Not really, maybe the committee will pair a lower national seed with a tougher regional host, but for the most part, they'll pair what is geographically convenient and the rest will be random.

Your national seed impacts who you will potentially face in Omaha.

Not really.

In terms of hosting a Super (which theoretically should improve your odds of getting to Omaha), there's really no difference between being a #1 or a #8.

Not too too much. The main goal is to have home field advantage to Omaha.

Once in Omaha all the teams are good one way or another.

Most years I would say it doesn't really matter, but I think this a great point.

Not much imo. You may be able to avoid a team like oregon st, but who is to say if they or louisville lr unc will veen make it to omaha

Since a national seed has not won the NC since 2011, I would say no.

It's tough to determine which seed sets us up with the best shot at winning game 1 in Omaha, but I'd imagine seed 8 wouldn't be that seed. Winning that first game is crucial.

If there is, it's too small to even be worth considering.

But, if you're asking if that means LSU should phone it in for the rest of the SEC tournament, the answer is no. Why?

1) Ideally, we would like for Lange, Poche, and Walker to all get a game in to stay on their usual schedules. Gotta win at least one more game to make that happen.

2) We want the team to remain fired up to compete in every game, every inning, every at bat.

3) Winning is fun.

With that said, we don't need Lange throwing 120 pitches or anything, even if that gives us the best chance to win. But I've heard some people saying we should just rest our starters, and I think that would be a terrible idea.
