re: If LSU plays as good as it did vs UGA, is that enough to beat Bama

I think our defense can hold bama to under 21
Franks and Florida put up 21 offensively
Our staff has to know going into that game it is going to take alot of points to win

Sure.
But the question is:
Can you beat Bama twice?
That is the measuring stick for teams in the West.
You have to beat them during the season, then win the SECCG for the right to rematch them in the playoff.
LSU, right now, is basically Auburn last year.
Auburn having to play the SECCG while Bama sat at home killed AUs shot at the playoff.
Isn't CFB great? LOL
That is why we are all Notre Dame fans now. If ND, Clemson and Ohio State are all sitting there undefeated and LSU is SEC champion with one loss then there is no way Bama weasels their way in.

LSU just beat the #2 team by 20 points. Obviously, if they play 'that well' against any team, it would indicate LSU winning by 20 points.
For LSU, it's all about the passing game in both directions. Can they slow Tua? Can they convert on 3rd and long, offensively?
If they can slow Tua and convert 3rd and long passing... yes, they can win. After last weekend, this flawed team looks like the best hope LSU has had since 2012 / 2013.

It would give us a chance for sure.

I know, right.
Every Game Counts....
Until a media darling loses, then the "eyeball test" comes into play.

Nope. Gotta finish drives with 7, not 3.
Plus, Saban's not gonna abandon the run like UGA did.

No. Field goals wont do it.

Since it's been lost to the sands of time, I like to remind people:
Oklahoma State lost one game in 2011. The night prior to that game, Okie State's basketball coach died in a plane crash.
Oklahoma State had every reason in the world to have that loss excused, but because Alabama > Oklahoma State in terms of ratings... well, we all know what happened.
LSU would have crushed Oklahoma State, cementing the 2011 team as an all-time legend and giving Les Miles the type of signature season very few coaches get.
Instead... well...

Swapping FGs for TDs won't cut it. We'll need 35 against Alabama, at least.

No.
If we want to beat Bama, we have to score TDs in the redzone, not settle for FGs.

LSU can play with anybody. If the secondary can cover their receivers and their defense isn't that great. Bama is definitely beatable.

if saban calls a shitty game like kirby then, yes.
I don't understand why they just decided to stop running the ball. Seriously. The way to beat LSU is to run the ball up the gut and get your linemen to the second level or have a pulling guard or TE or FB kick out White or Divinity and make Delpit or Battle come down and tackle. Georgia did that to perfection until they decided to stop. Which is beyond me.

that was as good of a team as there ever was, until...

really liked the guy but he should have been canned that night

Ehh, maybe... but with better red zone production, absolutely.
Yes...and better tackling. Watching Elijah Holyfield gash us early in the game the other day was concerning. Clean that up and get better in the red zone and we can play with anybody.

They didn't just decide to stop. LSU changed up their look and took that away from them. Fromm then had to try to throw to covered receivers.

As much as I would hate Clemson, Ohio State, and Notre Dame to go undefeated that would be the best situation because the one loss SEC Champs will the 4th seed. If not, bama will be in there and win it all.
Posted on 10/15/18 at 4:21 pm to CatsGoneWild
Yes! We could have beat Bama last year if we had a QB that could hit our open receivers.
Posted on 10/15/18 at 4:24 pm to CatsGoneWild
I think they would need TDs against Bama where we got FGs against GA
Posted on 10/15/18 at 4:25 pm to CatsGoneWild
Negative. We will not have what was it 2 or 3 penalties all day. Not going to happen.
