He has a better resume than all of those coaches but a lot of those coaches, like Herman, Riley, Patterson, Kingsbury, and Grundy have better offensive philosophies than Miles

And at LSU, Miles would have shut them down. The problem was he couldn't score enough. But I'll be interested to see how he does recruiting wise at Kansas. It's a different area up there. And as one poster alluded to, he won't be able to come in and raid La.

And yet none of the have a trophy for “excellent offensive philosophy”

Riley already has a conference title, and if anyone wants a case study for needing to change philosophically on offense in the Big 12 to survive, look at what Gary Patterson went through in 2013 and what he had to do to right the ship the following year.

Give it a few recruiting cycles and I bet Miles could compete at Kansas. The Miles name will attract recruits, especially defensive players, offensive lineman, tight ends, fullbacks, and running backs. He was always pretty successful at stopping air raid offenses, like we see in the Big 12, and those defenses are so bad that he could lineup and run the ball and be successful. He could build that program up to where they dominate the line of scrimmage because they’d be more physical than any defense they play against. Not saying it will happen but he could have the same philosophy he had at LSU and be successful

That’s the only philosophy in the B12

Some of the mental gymnastics you guys go thru to shite on Miles is amazing.
Miles was always a better coach than coker.

Kansas is dry for talent, as is most of the Plains. Moreover, no elite talent is going to Kansas the way it went to LSU.
He will have to poach quality under the radar talent from Texas. Shrewd evaluation of recruits will be imperative. There is less margin for error. Les can’t do what he did in 2006...sign 6 OL, none of whom ever played a down for LSU. That played a direct role in our OL problems a couple years later but Les still went 7-5. Do that at KU and he’s 3-9.

I think you have to look at it as who's the best fit for the Kansas job? Les will have them in the Missouri/ Iowa State class in 3-4 years 7-5 with a victory over a top 20 team or a bowl victory most years. He'll run a clean program as well. If he finds a QB, he'll have a very competitive team, but no way will they make a Final Four Championship. How much is that worth to Kansas?

Doesn’t history show he won’t do this?
Les will have to score points to win games. A lot of points. I don’t see it happening for him.
Moreover, he’s not going to have multiple Thorpe and Bednarik Award winners on his defenses at Kansas.
Finally, I think Les is old and warmed over now.

At this point it's about who has the biggest upside. I think Miles has reached his zenith while those other guys may be improving and developing their chops.

Gary Patterson coaches in the Big 12. He's pretty good at defense, or at least he was at one time. He hasn't been good at anything this year it seems.

Les would currently be the 2nd best coach in the SEC just as he was a few years ago.

Lol no one thinks that outside of a small group of LSU Pumpers.
