Doesn’t it need to have happened already. All other schools in the same predicament have already made the move. Or clear the air and say it isn’t going to happen.

I think that at least gives you an opportunity to be opportunistic. So many of these hooks and flat plays turned into big plays because of bad tackling, lack of aggression, and volume. We got continuously, slowly bludgeoned with a passing assault at 8 yards. Everything else was just icing on the cake.

There's a whole other dang board just for this very discussion

I have a wishlist as much as the next guy. But, we need to seriously talk about realistic DC options. Phil Parker and Jim Leonhard are the Holy Grails but they aren’t happening for a variety of relevant reasons. Manny Diaz would be nice, but just like Marcus Freeman and Brent Venables they’re defense gurus who are Head Coaches now, so they aren’t happening either. It’s also not about who we’d want because we don’t always consider the variables. It’s not about wishful thinking, more so than it’s about who out there can best run the schemes and systems our Head Coach wants. Who can recruit at high levels and likes that world like Mike Denbrock does? Who can make the best of nothing and the best of very little, who recruits well, who fits into the culture, who will make the best immediate impact, whilst simultaneously being a realistic possibility and someone that’s available for hire elsewhere, and who also partially fits your systems and schemes (if not fully)?… There’s a lot that goes into who should be on staff besides what sounds nice. You must take into account all these things AND THEN form your list. So on that note, there are two very easy and straightforward answers: Lance Guidry (Miami DC), and Tony Gibson (NC State DC).

Kelly could pull a random fan out of the stadium to coach the defense and it would only be slightly worse
Not if he pulls me. I'll man up and blitz every other play, run constant stunts and blitz from all positions. O will have 2 sec to get rid of the ball every play

I want Co-Defensive Coordinators

Will Muschamp. I would like to see him come back to LSU. Experience in the SEC and knows the conference and why its important to have a great defense.

Michigan’s staff will likely be turned over after this season. Jesse Minter and Mike Elston have ties to BK.
