Let's play devil's advocate.
-He keeps colliding with other blitzers so he doesnt seem to know his plays.
-He cannot seem to read a running play and get into the gap or contain.
-His tackling has been subpar.
-He has 0 pass coverage wins.
-He got crushed by a smaller runner so he is not using proper technique to tackle.
-He seems to avoid direct contact
-He claims to be too small to be inside or on the line and too big for DB

He's probably a late third round pick

He appeared to have lost his burst prior to the injury.

Without that explosiveness and sideline to sideline speed, he’s not an NFL prospect.

This is the issue right here. I believe the coaches was forced to put him at LB but he doesn't have the instincts to play the position. Can he rush the passer yes he can but eventually he gets washed out because he's also on the smaller side. Honestly he's a player without a position that hurts the defense because truthfully he can only do one thing and offenses have schemed him into a liability

He'll be a 1st rounder just based on his freshman season

Yep still projected in the 1st. NFL teams will know exactly how to use him. Of course this injury could change things.

The smart decision would be to return

I think that depends on what kind of draft grade he gets. If you can get in the top 4 rounds its not a bad decision IMO.

I don’t think it’s a torn ACL, maybe an MCL sprain

Guys with torn ACLs are down on the ground way longer than he was

If he does come back, I think it won’t be at LSU. Think he will hit the portal to make some money and go somewhere that will tell him what he his handlers want to here

Our fans are idiots. Smith went in the little to no production and a far worse injury history. If perk recovers well enough and potentially tests well, he’s still going in the first. Idk how you look at his first two years and critique production. I see everyday why Saban hated some of

He’s undersized for his position in college, how will that translate to the NFL? He’s a tweener with little pass coverage skills. 2nd day pick at best.

He’s not undersized, there are NFL LBs at that position who are smaller than Perkins.

We have been wasting a ton of time with MRI’s then. Guess what we really need is a stopwatch……

He could legit play SS/Star. We’ve seen him play it and was our best cover person. Somebody just gotta get him to realize that LB may not be for him physically

The narrative that he demanded to be moved has been debunked by Perkins and Kelly’s own statements. It was invented here, it’s not real.
