You are right. We have an average season in football and everyone wants to fire him. He may have lucked out with some of the other hires but that is part of it.

People are always going to complain about the AD. Woodward isn't the best but damn he's far from the worst.

Obviously at a school like LSU football in the tail that wags the dog. No rational person can look at Kelly’s resume and say it was a “bad” hire. Only people who think it’s NC or you suck say that. It is fair to say he’s underachieved given the resources at LSU and Kelly should be under pressure to make the playoffs this year but not the AD, that’s asinine.

Woodward’s first contract with Jimbo is in line with what any coach with a playoff appearance is getting paid today. Was he early- yes. But the first contract also wasn’t the big issue. Jimbo did improve a team that was starting to slip under a coach who turned out to be a flash in the pan. And Jimbo’s buyout wouldn’t have been that bad by the time A&M was looking at making a move. The bigger problem was Bjork extending Jimbo after the COVID anomaly season when he had no need to do so.
The same can also be said for BK’s contract. It’s big and the guarantee is steep, but it’s still in line with what any coach who’s had two title shots in his career would get to make a move.

It’s men’s basketball why the OP emotionally made this post.. Lsu is not good at men’s basketball. The culture and base doesn’t give af because if they did they’d show up and/or invest more resources into the program. It’s that simple.
We are a football school. Baseball No. 2. They get the following and support and resources. Period.
You can’t invest and be good at everything. Very few programs can. Woody will never be judged by basketball results. Move on.

If football doesn’t make the playoff, Kelly is fired. And if Kelly is not fired, then Woodward should be fired. The entire reason Woodward can’t fire McBum is because he’s saving his pennies for football
