First off, if LSU doesnt go, another 2 loss team is in. So just stop with this bullshite. We were the best team that year just like bama was last year after backing in. We still went out and won the sec championship on the last weekend. that is not backing in.
Also if we hadnt won in 2007, the fanbase actually may not be as bad. With that win came higher expectations from this program and from the coaching staff.

I agree with you here...bad mouthing 2007 in lieu of what happens nearly every year for teams to get in is just as stupid an argument as every comes around...the hate some have for Miles clouds every bit of rational thinking.

Miles earned that title and that title earned him some leeway.

Agree. This was more unlikely than '07. If I remember correctly, '03 came down to the last game between Hawaii vs ND with Hawaii having to win by a certain point margin to get LSU in the game.
The '07 championship is as credible as any team's.

No you don't, because he was already out the door before loss number 4 ever came to pass against Iowa. Many DID want to fire his "Yankee arse" back in 2001 though after the dismall loss to Ole Miss at home where Ro never got started and the Tiger offense went nowhere. The next week he turned Ro and Reed loose and they put up historic numbers against BAMA and they didn;t lose again.
And speaking of backing into a title...2001?!? Pretty much the only reason LSU made it to Atlanta that year was because of 9/11. AU would have skullfricked LSU the Saturday following 9/11 as LSU was nowhere ready for them yet as evidenced by the prison style raping Rex Grossman and Florida put on LSU at home a few weeks later. LSU slinked into Atlanta with a 5-3 SEC record, and missed out on having to play Florida again thanks to TENN knocking them off the same day we beat AU in the rescheduled AU game at the end of the season.

If Oklahoma St doesn't miss a fg by 6 inches in 2011, we would have completed the greatest college football season in history.
If we picked up 1 first down vs Bama in 2012 we would have been potentially playing for back-to-back titles.

when did Saban (a) play 13 games during the 2004 season and (b) lose a 4th game?
