In a thread on the Scoreboard from Saturday night someone stated that Nuss is redshirting because of a "Family Decision" and the reason Coach O did not put him in against Bama. Basically the only way he plays is if Johnson gets hurt.
Not sure how true that is but just passing on this information.

No need to worry about that one, bro!.

Nuss's parents told O they want him to redshirt if at all possible.
You absolutely redshirt Nuss, it’s best for everyone
It would be silly for all involved to waste a potential full future year of play to get a few extra snaps this year
I expect we’ll see him against ULM and that’ll be it…if for some reason he doesn’t play against ULM, then yeah possibly A&M, but certainly not in both games under no circumstances

That said... the more days go by, the angrier I get that he didn’t even see a series given the feel of that game. There has to be more to this story.
I, along with everyone else here, saw our receivers on the field throwing their hands up in exasperation play after play.
I, along with everyone else here, saw Nuss zip that thing into the end zone in garbage time against Auburn’s first team D.
Nobody is going to convince me they didn’t like his chances with the ball 2x in the redzone in the 4th quarter. Or even on the two minute drill! One guy has a cannon, the other does the one thing you can’t do and takes a sack first play.
What’s certain is that after those post-game comments... if they do burn his redshirt... CEO looks worse than he did going into the BYE — and I hadn’t realized that was possible.

They should have played him against Alabama then shut him down for the year. What in the hell were we waiting for?
There isn’t any evidence that Nussmeier can do better than Johnson.
I know he’s only had limited action, but it’s not like he’s burned it up.

Burning it up is not throwing one great pass.
I’ve seen him play and like most rookies he looked confused.
Now he could have improved. There’s no way for us to know, but to believe he was a viable option in a two minute drill is crazy talk.

He’s redshirting. I’m sincerely confused why anyone in this thread would think otherwise.
Of course he’s redshirting. This isn’t even worth discussing. Anyone that would even consider burning the redshirt at this point is out of their mind and not thinking rationally and long term, for the program and for the player as an individual.
The final 3 or 4 games in this season under a lame duck coach do not matter…of course you don’t blow a potential full future year for some meaningless snaps in meaningless games in 2021.
I’m thoroughly surprised people are even discussing this…There’s really nothing to discuss in regard to him redshirting. It’s happening, of course it should happen, and not much thought really had to go into that decision for either party (program or individual player) because it’s common sense.

JP this didnt age well lol. While I don’t blame you for thinking rationally, I do for assuming out former HC does.

This is dumb thinking. If his is the next qb, you let him play out the years. Let him get all those freshmen mistakes out of the way in a worthless year. Play the kid, he cannot be worse.

The Rant. Forever where the backup QB is always 10x better than the starter. I member the days in June, July, and early August of "Bench Brennan, start Max"
It has been that way since the beginning of LSU football in 1893.

That’s BS , we had a logjam 13 months ago, and then TJ transfers, Brennan flip flops, and we got Starter who started two games, and a 18yr old backup, You can think you got a Logjam and then no Logs, it’ll work itself out because it has to
TJ transferred bc we have a log jam. Brennan is leaving bc we have a log jam. Redshirting Nuss then logjams Walker Howard, who is also looking around now.

To be fair to Nuss the AM game is gonna be a tough one to show out with that d Line and our O line
